The 914 is around $30k so 18% more power should cost 18% more.....$35,400 would be my guess...

They have been running the 4 cylinder ones in helicopters (major major test!!!) and they are performing flawless.
35 moving parts! 4 grand overhaul 2000 hours TBO. And they make them the very airport we hangar at!!!! _________________ A walk in the woods helps me relax and release tension. I wonder if the 915 is still using a 2 stroke crank?

The Flathead design is great for a low RPM engine, it eliminates lots of complication and weight too.And makes a smaller package. I love it.

Back in the old days you could buy surplus military drone engines...ala, the Mac...
but now some of the military drones use rotax 914's, but they are destroyed and not surplussed.. too bad 4 us.. Plus valves sticking event is a none event. Overhead valve will cost a lotta dough!!!!

As you know, some folks weld their cranks... but this means you can never rebearing that crank again.... Besides on the D-motor there is no turbo charger!!!!!

If a pressed crank goes out of whack, it can be trued again. It's often the final step when pressing them back together. Final adjustment is made with a lead hammer.

That is true Dinoa, but my point is, that if the crank moves and you don't know it, it flogs everything else inside the engine out. That is why the 9 series had so much starting issues and when they weren't starting properly and were running backwards, it would twist the crank.... even a backfire on cranking.... or running backwards on shut down may twist the crank (or damage the gearbox).... so to me, if you are paying the same amount of money for a bare motor for a hobby/sport like a gyro motor at $30K when you could buy a new car for that.... the motors need to be at least a little more resilient than a pressed crank from a 2 stroke. Even if the crank pins were splined and press fitted.... or press fitted with a keyway to keep them straight would be a help.... but I have seen a 582 crank getting pressed straight.... pretty stone age really
I just think that the amount of cash the motors cost... you should be at least a little confident it will reach TBO without worrying if it backfires while starting or runs backwards etc Just my opinion  So nobody become an  and y'all (especially that dang Lofty) _________________ I do all of my own stunts..... most of them are even planned!
