Today, 25th April is ANZAC day in Australia and New Zealand. Commemorates those who have served and lost their lives in war.
Due to the pandemic, parades have been canceled, though it has not stopped us from standing out on the street at dawn to remember those.
It was great to see so many in their drive way, candles lit.

Hey Muz .... you guys are doing pretty good with only about 6914 total cases and declining ..... Canada now has 65400 and still increasing .... back in March Canada and Australia were about the same.

USA leads the pack with 1,299,912 cases so out of curiosity I totaled up cases in the European Union comes out to about the same (1,278,305)

Yes ....good point .... on one of his recent shows Sean Hannity said whenever possible , hospitals will put "COVID19" down as "the cause" because it allows for much higher billing amounts .... and because most hospitals are "for profit" the additional revenue is desirable.

Hannity said something to the effect that the "extra" billing amount was around $39,000 per patient..... he explained how that works but I did not grasp it at the time .... wish I could hear it again but it was his radio show and if it was recorded I dont know the link .

Just a thing on this. Hospitals are losing massive amounts of money on COVID. Our local hospital downtown Orlando lost an average of $3 million dollars a day due to the shutdown, because all elective surgery and procedures were cancelled. Emergency rooms were empty, people with other sicknesses would not go because they were scared of COVID. All dentists and doctors shut down for over a month. Approximately 25% of nurses and staff in hospitals nationwide furloughed.
$39,000 may sound like a lot for a patient, but when the level of care required for these patients, isolation requirements, monitoring and particularly once on ventilators in ICU, not much at all. Remember only pretty sick COVID patients landed up in hospital.
Some hospitals in the very busy COVID cities were full with this and maybe made money, but overall a huge losing proposition for doctors and hospitals nationwide.
And all the conspiracy theories on this are pure BS. Science is a real thing, or I wonder how our gyros fly.
COVID is two different diseases, depending who gets it. Young and healthy, not a serious disease or maybe completely asymptomatic. Very few deaths.
In the age group of most of us, above 60, and with any kind of other medical problems it's can be a very bad disease. As things open up, which I am all for, we better protect the older and sicker folks or we'll be sending them off a lot earlier than planned. People should drop their political agendas on all this, it's a real thing. We were completely blindsided by it.
