Some folks on Rotary Wing Forum are trying to get a hold of Dave Jackson and asked me but I cannot post there since they changed everything so if someone here wants to copy and paste this info on RWF or give the link I would appreciate it , thanks. Dave passed away in 2017

Here is the RWF thread https://www.rotaryforum.com/threads/dav ... nly.41305/

================

I didn't know Dave Jackson much more than anyone else. I only knew he put a lot of hours into his intermesher helicopter ideas .... and had webpages with tons of rotor info .

For some reason he really disliked the typical tail rotors used on the majority of helicopters. It was almost an obsession for him. He felt the 1940's Flettner Fl 282 Kolibri was the ultimate rotor design

I got along well with Dave and tried to tame his obsession by pointing out the HUGE tail appendage on the KAMAN HUSKY and the KAMAN K-MAX required to eliminate a small tail rotor .... not to mention a second complete set of main blades and hub.

He was born in 1940 , trained as an engineer , designed and patented and manufactured an excellent conveyor system , sold the business around 1996 , had a few bucks , got bored and for some reason dove head first into helicopter rotor systems.

He was not a pilot , nor mechanically inclined , more of a suit and tie behind a desk , yet he could read and understand Ray Prouty (Advanced Helicopter Aerodynamics)

Passed away in July 2017 at the age of 77 from a "critical illness" .... he must have been in a lot of pain because he sought out "doctor assisted dying" and ended up at "Dying With Dignity Canada" a national non-profit committed to improving quality of dying, and protecting end-of-life rights.

No mention of any family .... all I know is he donated all of his $$ 7 million estate to the small non-profit who helped him. wow !! Even they were shocked and surprised

Couple of pictures , Dave in the center of both , one in his younger years , and one more recent.
