On December 25th we celebrate the life of a being who was born from virginity and had a spiritual father.
Through out his life he preformed miracles, raised the dead, walked on water, was crucified and resurrected.
This is the story of Horus, an Egyptian, who's life and events took place 3000 years before Jesus was born.
Merry Christmas Everyone !

I wasn't raised in a Christian household, and frankly have no interest whatsoever in Religious Ceremonies (I do believe in god, just don't think I have to go to a particular building or talk to a particular human to interface with him, and even if I do, I doubt the Intelligent One is waiting around pensively for my prayers or requests)

But historical accuracy does interest me.

Found this comparison online, take it for what it costs....

Just found it interesting, thats all.

Being agnostic I still love and appreciate this beautiful heritage and culture of mine.
Have a blessed Christmas everyone.

Thanks, Muz.

I'll throw down a drink for everyone of you - as long as I can stand up or sit or whatever...

If not now - then in exactly one week... We'll add to this thread then.

Cheers
Erik

Muz.....I haven't been able to upload pictures since last year. I can upload on other places, but my pictures never load on this site. I just gave up after about 100 tries. It's always the same result...nothing???

But thanks for the interest. Just get a bunch of crayolas out and draw in pictures of our patio! Ha

Barbaras first knee replacement was October 1st. She is doing fine...and will have her other knee replaced around late spring early summer.

For some reason you can no longer upload large pics. I reduce mine to 750 kbs and that seems to work well.
Anything over 1 meg starts getting problematic.
I use a free program called Photoscape. easy to use and works great.
You can resize pics, edit vids and all kinds of cool stuff
Merry Christmas

That is great news Stan, when she gets her second new knee, hopefully she will have her mobility back and no or not much pain.... it will be great :like

About the pics, generally if they wont load, they are too big.... get one of your grand kids to make the pics smaller .... kids can do it much easier than us old folk can....

or, you can email pics to Nabs or me and we can post them for you.... I/we miss seeing your beautiful stairs coming to life, and your house and yard improvements :badluck :wol2 :Wolvie

And so it's now time for this immortal Dean Martin piece:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XC3Hc-rAkk

BTW, in Denmark we watch this every newyear's eve - it's a must:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/1 ... gets-home/

If you watch it, please ignore the german speaker at the start - that part is cut out when shown in Denmark.

Of course we like it - it's about someone getting pis**ng drunk and having troubles. Just too bad the Germans
won't use the original speech - it used to be, everything was made into German speech. On the grounds, that they
couldn't understand the English and many couldn't read (German or anything else). I hope it's getting better - I
haven't seen any German TV in many years.

I think the succes of the play show we're such anglophiles here - really. British crime series are a big hit in Denmark.
And when we are so few, we have to know other languages (even some German).

Any snow, Muz? :rofl :OZ
(we had a very small amount on the 23'rd - juust enough for hygge)

("Glædelig Jul og Godt Nytår")

Most of the Christmas songs must seem out of place down under
(Let it Snow, White Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Baby, it's Cold Outside :rofl )

Cheers
Erik

LATER EDIT: They show "Dinner For One" in English - it may be the only non-german piece.
But in a video about the play several Germans were interviewed, and they spoke English better
than I do, so my old prejudice should be put to rest.

Erik I have spent 2 years in a refugee camp in Austria and I agree with you!
Dumbass German is not suitable to accurately reflect the original English "meanings" of any theme.
Terrible for that matter. I can't even watch movies dubbed into Hungarian.
I prefer the original English. If nothing else the certain cultural aspect of word games cannot be translated properly.
