Dang I just bought an Epson printer 4 months ago
changed the ink $57 !!! and it worked last week, now it spits out blank pages...
So I made it clean the print heads about 5-6 times before I could get it to print, very poorly I might add....
So it uses ink to clean the print heads, then it tells the printer the ink is low when there is still 1/2 the ink left.

After doing some research, the chips in the ink cartridge are not reset-able, they actually self destruct by blowing a fuse in the chip once they get to a certain level....designed to fail!
So I now have 4 printers that do not work,
Never will I buy another Epson or HP printer...

It looks like they will be target practice for the AR and SKS this weekend...

I use canon because I have big bottles of ink... I tell it in settings not to check the ink, then I simply tape over the vent hole, turn the cartridge upside down, fill the cartridge through the hole (with the felt) that the ink comes out of (with a draw up syringe of each color) Don't poke the needle thru the felt, just drip ink onto the felt and it goes thru into the cartridge... I turn the cartridge over and stick it on some plasticene or putty to hold it, then drip a stream of ink onto the felt until no more goes in, flip it back right way up, touch it on a paper towel, then put it in printer and peel off the vent tape....Oh, and wear latex gloves unless you want to look like a bank robber for a week

:badluck :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

I have so much ink.... I wonder if I could send you some?

Look in settings to see if it gives you the option to stop monitoring the ink....

Yep I have watched that, it is good, very telling about our society today..

I have a cannon but it dried up and wont print, also have an epson with bad print heads and an HP big all in one print, copy, fax, now the other epson won't print, just half of the lines on a page of type...

Like I said, targets, I just hate to clean up the mess afterward...

I always buy the cheapest multi-function printer I can get at Walmart. After a couple ink cartridge changes I pitch it and get another, they just don't last and aren't meant to like the older ones were. The ink now is thinner and dries faster causing clogs and failures. cheap crap these days

.

(Some printers) (Mine does) you remove the ink cartridge and gently rock it back aand forth and upside down for a few minutes , then it works like new again.

I have run cartridges almost dry after lots of use , and doing that made another 100 pages of print

Either my printer or the ink package had those instructions. Sorry I am not at home to look it up and be more precise.

yep arnie, the old ones used to work like that, the new ones have a chip that counts the pages printed, you used to be able to refill and reset the chip with a small device that set the counter back to zero, the new printers actually
have the chips on each ink cartridge. after so many pages, "poof" the chip self destructs rendering the ink cartridge useless, making you buy more ink, even though the ink is not empty. the new printer is only 4 months old and already a P.O.S.
I need a printer and copier because of the medical issues with Mother in Law, constantly have to make copies and print medical forms etc. Plus Mama is doing some work from home now and needs to be able to print documents...I got by for a while without one. The dang thing worked last week when I changed the ink, but it shouldnt dry up in 4-5 days and be useless, then it used 1/2 the ink to clean the print head, so the $57 I spent on ink runs out after printing 10 pages...

I've said the same thing....and mean it! In fact, I'll never buy another InkJet Printer of any brand.
