Hey Elwood...

I have a bunch of odd sized start caps for single phase compressor motors... If you can give me an idea of what values you want to experiment with... I will bring you a box of half a dozen or more down to BD's. They are all 370 or 440V rated.

That motor looks to be about 3/4 - 1 HP by its size so I am sure the capacitors run around 5 Micro Farad to 15 MF....

Not sure I have any that small... will look and get him a box to play with when he gets home from BD's.

Here is a drawing of the one I built with a 3hp motor. It starts my 3hp lathe and my 2 hp mill. Hint the more motors running the smoother everything runs.
- A starting capacitor should be rated at least 250 volts and between 50-100 microfarads per rated horsepower of your idler
Note that there should be fuses, breakers and overload heaters to protect life limb and property.
