It blows my mind how much the Aircraft and fuel alone weighs. That is a lot of ‘monkey motion’ going on in that wheel well.

Just wait and see what it looks like after 6 months of flying, everything in there will be the same color just like the engine compartment of an old ford pickup......
Its all monkey motion these days....I think they need to go back to the drawing board on this one, there is still a small bit of empty space.

So, now imagine a blown tire getting sucked up in there flapping around......yes the brakes automatically apply once they leave the ground, but still, there ain't a whole lot of room in there when the gear is up....not like the movies..

Are the brakes overhauled in-house?

Not sure about the brakes exactly, we do have a wheel and brake shop, not sure if the brakes are re lined here, wheel and brake is nasty dirty work, heavy too! We rebuild the anti skid servo valves right here in the hydraulic shop, along with brake shuttle valves, and everything else that has skydrol in it. Most work is done in house unless it is something we can get done cheaper elsewhere, but usually we do a better job and it comes back in house. We rebuild engines for GE, CFM, Pratt, and just signed a 20 year contract with Rolls Royce as their north American overhaul facility.

That's a lot of hydraulic going on in there..... Makes you wonder about how many points of potential trouble they present......

Every connection is a potential trouble spot....
I mean what could go wrong here?
