For all who served and allowed us by doing so to live in this great country.
I often think the words of "Thank you for your service" have become a habit of just saying it.......just like the "I love you too" response without meaning it!

I sure did. I did my part of serving the people of the country I was born in.
Wasn't exactly my choice. Just like here during Nam we had the draft too.
So I did my time and got honorably discharged at the end.
Funny thing is after I got my citizenship and my CFI license I did try to enlist here.
Not many know this little fun fact.
I was trying to go to Fort Rucker. The cut out age was 38 and I happened to be 39 at the time!
My student however did get to go there and had a great career teaching there.
I think he works now somewhere in the Emirates.
Anyways. Maybe it's better this way. I think I got it all out of my system by now :rofl
