The cowboy goes to the front desk and stresses that this is a very important occasion and they'll need a deluxe suite. The clerk says, "Well, I can do better than that, I can give you the bridal. The cowboy thinks a moment and replies, "No, that's not necessary. I'll just hold onto her ears until she gets used to it."

A late wish of a happy birthday, Muz. Hope you had a good one.
Sorry I missed it. 56? Wait for 60 - ouch.
Well, reaching 60 earlier this year, I could empty my savings account - convert what few stocks I had into real money.
And blew by far the most of it on a spankin' new car. I'm trying to hold on to the rest for building and flying.
I have the parts for the engine now. And I can soon go to Sweden to buy the 6061T6 aluminium I need.
Cheers Erik

Hi Muz Not a car like the Prius. Not an interesting car - just a sensible one. Remember, I'm in Europe. A Skoda Fabia Wagon (Estate, Station Wagon) with 110 HP petrol and DSG7 automatic. With some interesting features, like emergency brake and adaptive cruise control. Climate control (just inside the vehicle ) etc. blah blah. A european version called Tour de France+ I wrote the contract (read: bought it) 3 months ago - hard to wait that long, while your old car sucks up petrol like a hole in the ground. They started building this 2018 model in august. And I picked it up 6 days ago, on the way to my mothers 85-year birthday. After driving the new one a few days I took the last ride in the old Passat. What an old pile of crap in comparison! (19½ years of next to no maintenance) But of course, I skimped all I could on maintenance since the paint went bad (edit - long time ago). Dinner's on - have to go eat. Cheers Erik

I remember the 105 and 120LS Skodas - and the Rapid. They are best forgotten. Today Skoda is part of the VW family. All parts of the car are stamped either VW or Audi. The newer Skodas are very popular in Denmark, and owners are happy people. VW doesn't want them to be better than their own products, of course. The interesting exercise is to get as close as possible. I always buy cash, so I want to make the best deal I can. And it's still a fun car to drive around. It has great mileage and TCO. I'm happy (as Droopy, the cartoon dog, say). Cheers Erik

Gab, that must be the Lada.
A Fiat copy, AFAIR. But spares were not interchangeable with Fiat.
Cheers Erik
