Too late to go on a road trip? We know a lady on Turks and she and her friends didnt evacuate....havent herad from her since it went through. Even if you hunker down successfully, your still stuck with no power or AC... This would be a great time to go see the Wright Brothers Museum.... Just sayin..... |

BS. Freaking huge North-West cool air mass was coming down hard with all that dry air keeping the mofo South! The longer it stayed South the more likely to slip into the Golf. It's happening baby. It's happening. .... Cuba will slow the bastard a bit.... I am still not seeing the sharp North turn!!!! I see it going West for a while...... If that ridgeline collapses then and only then I see a sharp Northerly turn. Scotty I have been through about 12-13 hurricanes that were visiting this area. Daytona has not been directly hit however. Except for Donna in 1964. The highest wind was obviously with Charlie in 2004 that came as a cat 3 but time it has gotten here it had lost it's punch more less. Matthew last year was another cat 3. I have a video of me measuring 147 mph gusting. I'd say that's about as much as we have seen with all of them. This one is just so big that it will effect the whole state. If Irma comes ashore cat 4-5 we will see a cat 3 of it. 150mph - ish. The problem will come with the high water table already. Any sizable rain will cause flooding.
