Pete are you ready?
Apparently, PR has already declared a state of emergency.
Category 4 as of right now.
By next Friday we ought to know if it comes to FL.
:eek

Well now we have governor Rick Scott issuing the same for all Florida.
I think we are in the path. Cat4-5 by the time it reaches us.
Goodie...... just what we need!
:fuckum

Stay safe y'all, Hey Jake told me about a great website for tracking the hurricane.
https://www.ventusky.com/?p=28.3;-75.1;3&l=wind

On the bottom left there is a calendar pop up where you can look ahead a few days.

I hope this doesn't follow the projected path. It will come up the coastline and that will be as bad as Matthew was last year.
That kicked our asses......
Freaking water table is already pretty high so there isn't a whole lot of leeway when it comes to flooding.
:eek

Gabi, I'm about as ready as I can get, I have a stash of gasoline for my generator and my water tank is full, my pantry is stocked! They are calling it a cat 5 with winds of 175 gusting to 225 mph. I don't know how prepared one can be for that kind of blow! :eek
To keep things interesting I have two tiny baby kittens whose mother died. they are in a shoe box under my bed and I have formula mixed for them. Somebody has to look out for the little critters. :der

WOW! Pete. That is a mean one! Already category 5.
The only plus is that you are on the top of the mountain so flooding won't be an issue.
But please be careful. Last time you had burnt your hands.
Will be thinking of you my friend.
Please keep us posted how things are.
Fingers crossed!!!
:eek

This is going to be a devastating hurricane if the east side of it sweeps up the coast. Of course the east side winds are packing the rotational speed plus the groundspeed. The west side subtracts the ground speed.

Wish it turns back out into the Atlantic, but unlikely now.

Looking at the water vapor loop I am still in the belief that it will be way south of Daytona

Have a yarn with Trump, he may be able to ban Irma from entering the country!
Stay safe all you good people.

Irma looks like she's going to be a bad bitch. Hopefully it will turn north before getting to Florida. But be prepared and best of luck to all the folks in Florida.
And Pete, you and your kitties be careful down there.

Pete be careful. This monster is going to be hammering the island tonight.
Still moving slow.... not good!

I found this tidbit about Irma. Its only the 2nd hurricane since satellites started watching them, that has sustained 185 mph winds for over 24 hours. The other one named Haiyan killed 6000 people in the Philippines in 2013.
