Now I am just confused on a whole new level!! Damn you all! :fickyou :laughing :rofl

You would have had to be there to understand. Stan and I always shared a room at B-Days and Mentone fly-in's and somehow we seem to acquire more room mates often than beds.
This was one of those night when Vance needed a place to crash and so did a couple of other friends. For one night IIRC.. so we were sleeping double and one on the floor.
The lights go off and of course the guys start making comments on just how gays this all seems, in a manly way...

When I hear Vance say you have pretty toe nails to Stan who laying next to him.
Dead silent... has no one has a clue how to respond to that!!!

Next thing we hear is there bed banging against the wall, like they are have sex.

Then Vance's voice... "Well just get it over with!"

Who says Vance does not have a since of humor??? We all burst out laughing.

It was always like that when Stan, Gabor, and I were together!!!

There is much more to this story but that is the short version.

Thanks John. I didn't feel like explaining it to Muz.

Vance and I are dear friends. He knows I imitate him and vice versa.

Well I am still getting the same message.... Managed to get there on Chrome, but man the site is crazily slow. Definitely less reason to go there.

I am sad. I really am. I hope they get it resolved.
It would be a shame if that immense amount of material vanished.....
Any idea what happened?

Gabor, All the info is there it's just a different look and layout.

It is slow, cumbersome and not very user friendly the way it's laid out.

The General Topic and most of the topics that used to be on the leading page are now where you have to scroll down
past several other topic areas to get to the main topic area. Plus the main page no longer presents a picture to greet
your log in. In other words it's bland and boring to the eye which to me seems uninviting and now to the visually curious has no zest and does not draw your interest like it did B4. :twopennies

It remains to be seen if ppl like the new diggs. I already think it still sucks from a user stand point. But then I am
just a disgruntled , multi banned, low brow user and general trouble maker there anyway.

First business was to put Steve_UK on the ignore list again! :fuckum

All the Avatars are ... gone ... Todd Glenn & I are about the first 3 to get our pics up again ... hopefully still a work-in-progress and will improve!
I'm worried it will go like the Aussie ASRA forum do-over ( B4 the last makeover!) ... be such a pain ... everyone stayed away in droves!

Chris,

The site is slow right now because the database is being re-indexed.
Perhaps the avatars will comeback once it's finished. Maybe not.
The layout remains to be seen with the upgraded version of vBulletin. I liked the old one, and we'll see if we can get this one to have a similar look and functionality as the old one.

I will create a category for the Titanium gyros once we get everything back in order. I don't want to chance interfering with any other processes going on right now.

Not to worry. Soon the Rotary Forum will reclaim it's rightful place as the Bestest Most Super Extra Heavy-Duty Double-Throwdown gyro forum on the planet.
Maybe even the whole Solar System!!! (I know we got Venus and Mercury beat).

Yikes! Looks like one of those el-cheapo yahoo or AOL forums that no one visits.........
I could not even log on, there is no where to log on, maybe it is because I am running Linux?

I do not like the look, icky-poo! Yuk, But I will hold off until the upgrade is complete, I hope that it returns as Mike suggested ..
Make the forum great again and all that......

Nope...Once you are in a browser, it shouldn't matter. Sites can tell the OS (somewhat), but people rarely write code to exclude folks by Operating System. More work. Programmers are even more lazy than pilots!

I stopped getting the threat warnings on my phone and two other computers.
Looks like the cleanup is taking effect.

That's normal. We had our problems for a good while.
It is really not that simple to run a forum if things go haywire.
And it does look like VBulletin did a major fuck up there.
Whining about it won't fix the problem and will only irritate the folks whom are trying to fix it.
They are probably doing their best. Every problem has a solution and there has to be someone finding it and implement it.
It's just the nature of the beast.
I do wish them quick recovery.
I know the pain when you want to please people and the solution is just not totally in your hands......

Yeah, the Aussie forum died when they 'improved it' .....

it still hasn't recovered.... there are currently about 4 people who post anything....

I have always liked the layout of this forum, it is so easy to get around.... it is so easy... even...

Lofty can use it :noidea :chainsaw :laughing

Makes me think the old saying 'If it aint broke, don't fix it' springs to mind....

If the particular existing forum is too easy to hack, then the existing forum needs to be toughened up, not changed out for some namby pamby new version that sux... :realcrazy :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

:Jim

Don't forget the big ficker!

I have been poking around and discovered there is whole butt loads of pages missing from older posts.
There seems to be only the cover page (in other words one page of content) and no other pages with the rest of the
post like page 2 etc. I sure hope they get that fixed and it's maybe not done indexing all the pages in whole.

Lots of info not available....yet.

I am sure the back up subscription will restore them.
It does take a lot of time for the backup to sort everything back in order.
We had to do it at work once.....hideous work!

.

It will not let me log in any more ...... 11 years ago when I joined RWF I used an email address which is now defunct ...... maybe that is the problem ...... did any of you guys have to get a recent email message to tell you how to get on the updated forum ????

A couple of years ago Todd at RWF announced he was going to update his software and I cautioned him about all the problems it (could) cause ..... he asked me for examples and I provided them so he held off (until now) .... even V-Bulletin themselves said there were lots of problems.

I had been on several different technical forums that were updated (V-Bulletin) and it screwed up the whole thing ..... could not recover and the whole site had to be shut down

The biggest problem was that if a person quoted something posted by someone else it came out as though they them selves were saying it .... whereas they were disagreeing with it ..... it had to be shut down because it completely mis-represented what everyone was saying

Tons of technical information was lost and nobody wanted to spend years reposting everything .

Hope that does not happen to RWF .... lots of good archived info there .

Anyone else have trouble logging in .... or is it just me ????

thamks

I personally have no desire to log on to the new site. No negative reasons not to, just have my interests in other things.
