Yesterday I was out of town installing some hand railing when Barbara called and said an electrician and a plumber were at the house wanting to start rewiring and plumbing. She told them it was our farm house to the east that needs it.
They said," We were told this address". They wrote my address down instead. So, minor issue, but I see a pattern developing.
A few years ago Barbara looked out the back window and there was a city water department employee digging a hole in our back yard. She called me at the stair shop which is just down the road, and I came down. The worker was going to dig up my shut off valve. I told him that was at my dads house. He apologized and filled in the hole
Another time Barbara looked out the front window, and there was a trencher set up by the telephone company getting ready to cut up our pristine front yard! Barbara went out and told them we didn't have any phone problems and weren't adding any lines. "Whoops !...wrong address" he said!
The worst story was when Barbara heard trucks out in our driveway and then they were unloading tools around her garden shed...which by the way is 18 foot x 24 foot with an 8/12 pitch roof...and not very old! They were told to demo the building and build a bigger one. Guess what? They had the wrong address. Don't these people ever verify anymore? Geesshh...thank God Barbara was a stay at home mom all those years!

On the other hand....If Barbara did not stay home, you may have been able to sue the city, county, etc, you may have missed an opportunity to be a very rich man, with a larger shed too!

We have those things happen around here once in a while .....painters pull in and start painting the wrong house .... or movers pull into the wrong house and load up all the furniture and ship it across country .... cops smash into the wrong house with warrants and assault gear expecting a house full of criminals but find a normal family sleeping in bed.

That has always bothered me Arnie, UPS and FedEx can find an address, but the cops get it wrong and bust in and cuff, or kill the law abiding citizens....Here in Atlanta a couple years ago, cops busted in on a 92 year old woman, the woman fired shots because she thought it was a home invasion....The cops shot 39 times and hit her with 5 killing her. http://countercurrentnews.com/2015/06/p ... formation/Then they had the wrong address and threw a flash-bang grenade in a baby's crib, burning and permanently disfiguring the child... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... burns.html

I spent most of my life doing automotive collision repairs and have heard every accident story ever told .... my favorite was the guy who told me ....... "I came home late at night and turned into the wrong driveway at the wrong house and hit a tree that was not supposed to be there."
