Yeah, and asked the tower if the passenger jet should be where it is?? :realcrazy :laughing

Might be time for poor ol' Harrison to hand in his set of keys for the Millenium Falcon? :badluck :yoda2 :Wolvie

Yeah someone accidentally left a 737 parked at the end of the runway... :noidea

Runway, taxiway, whatever it takes.

Looks like Harrison pulled a Bowman, or was that a All In. I am still not sure who fucked up on that one. Any comments, just thought I would stir the pot, this might get good :Jim :yoda2 :die

Wow, thats your intro?!?

Let me tell you there Mr. non-pilot pilot its no where near as hard as it might sound. And we didnt land on a taxi way.....we just landed at the wrong airport!
Oh....and I wasnt flying the plane! But it could be argued that I was helping with the navigtional duties.

As a matter of fact our mistake was so common if you look up incursions in Rod Machados book on flying they have a picture of the very airport we landed at!
Could have happened to anyone!

Boy they sure got pissy when we asked where we were!

It is actually quite an easy mistake to make, it was just unfortunate that it didn't register with him that the airliner was there.... that should have made him question his approach.... flying over an airliner stopped on an airport suggests to me that it is holding short of a runway.... so, whatever I thought I was lining up on, if I have to fly over said airliner, suggests strongly to me that it aint a runway I am lined up on.... :ugeek:

When I flew spam cans, a couple of times I found myself lining up on a taxiway, but the bigger wider looking strip.... usually with a center line and black and white pedestrian crossings on it seemed like a better idea... :laughing So I would just drift over to the actual runway and pretend that was where I was going all along :ugeek:

The fact he crashed the plane last year or 18 months ago, that flying over an airliner didn't ring any bells.... that he actually landed on the taxy way, sort of suggests to me he needs to fly 2 seaters with a co-pilot or perhaps consider his flying days might be about over?

We have a 93 year old lady around here flies a Tiger Moth that she owns.... she has leased the plane to someone who does joy flights and takes care of the maintenance.... when she flies, she flies, but she has the guy who leases the plane with her.... just in case....

Very wise.... I don't know if it is the same in the states, but over here, older car drivers reach an age where they must forget the road rules or how to drive.... which pedal does what?.... They drive thru shops, reverse out of their driveway, across the road and into the ocean ..... or drive thru the back wall of their shed trying to park in it, or reverse out of it.... or you find them going against traffic on the wrong side of an interstate :eek

Happens alot over here.... seems to be usually 75 year old and up.... :noidea :dizzy Worryingly, right about Harrisons age... :badluck :yoda2 :Wolvie

Talking about messing up and mistaking a taxiway for a runway....
I have called in KOMN 4 miles east straight in for 17.
Cleared to land.....when I got above the numbers it read 13!!!
Uhhhhhh I was 5 miles North of KOMN and made a perfect approach to runway 13 on KFIN!!!!
The only ones who don't fly make no mistakes!
:fuckum

Muz a little back story. Bacon and me are best buds and have shared many adventures togther.
He was just tryiing to push some buttons cause me and all in went flying when I first got my SEL and we were tryi gto land at Corona but ended up at a towered airport just north I forget the name.
If I recall correctly the faa fussed at all in a bit but nothing serious. My end was a phone call warning me to be more careful.
I learned a lot from that experience...dont land at a towered airport....ever!

Wow Benry!.... I didn't think you could afford frends? :noidea :laughing :rofl :chainsaw

Yeah, any where there are spam cans..... avoid!! They don't look out the windows when they fly for one reason....

With my gyro flying, when I went to black top airports, I usually asked for the grass beside the runway..... was used to landing on lumpy stuff... didn't want to get spoiled :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

I have always tried to avoid controlled airspace.... I am happy to fly, I have no need to be 'seen to fly' .... so once I discovered gyros and gave away the spam cans, I would fly out of weird little short strips (farmers paddocks) or disused roads and keep to myself :laughing :pop :yoda2 :Wolvie

I saw a video that showed the jet short of the taxiway when Ford supposedly flew over the jetliner.
????????????? Fake news? He did land on the taxiway.
