All Russia has to do is blindside us with an emp weapon...and our population would be on our knees. Of course we could counter, but Russia with its smaller military is more powerful than our blundering enemy-in-chief controlling our superior military. We ain't near as ready as we used to be. All our numbers are down .
I never will forget the gulf war and our impressive Tomahawk cruise missiles. Trouble is these multi million dollar surgical PC weapons ran out after 10 days. I often thought how would we ever fight a conventional war against Russia or China in their backyard?

Putun doesn't fight PC like we do. He levels the place with indiscriminate bombing. Cruel and inhumane? Of course...but most effective. We blinked and he filled the void....and we whine and complain of war crimes. That's what we get for letting him in to Syria in the first place Putin just plain moved in...is controlling the no fly zone we used to command. PATHETIC. I feel Putin has the resolve to do something major while Ovomit is in still in charge.

All I can say is that half the county elected Ovomit, over half reelected him....the ones that did deserve what they got.

Trump is so exposing the ineptness of both parties and he clearly has our countries best interest at heart. If the same status quo Hillary is elected, the ones putting her in power will deserve what they get.

I have not wasted 2016 in getting prepared. Too many red flags popping up. I am not going even going to start discussing them all...talk..talk..talk...thats all it would be. I am preparing instead and believe it or not, am enjoying my realization that I have fileted out the best years this world has offered. My dad came from the best generation ever lived that created my easy life. He saw the great depression, fought in WW2.

I am very much at peace not with what I think is coming down my road....but what comes afterwards. Life is meaningless to me without a hereafter.

That's an interesting statement Stan.
If there is no hereafter, wouldn't that make your life more meaningful?
It would be the only life you have, or ever will have, and one would want to make the best of it and prolong life as along as possible.

If there is a hereafter, then this life is just a warm-up, a prelude to eternity. I would think that someone who truly believes in an afterlife would be looking forward to death so they could get to the good part as soon as possible.

It just seems strange to me that when a religious person gets a reprieve from some disease or personal calamity, they praise God for intervening on their behalf, instead of lamenting their delayed entry into Paradise. If a calamity such as what you have been describing is on the horizon, why prepare? Why not let it happen and move to the head of the line, so to speak?

If I didn't believe in a hereafter, I feel I would have tried to live my life the same , but with less to look forward to. That phrase. "is that all there is" comes to mind.

As far as trying to live life as long as I can...why not? I enjoy most days of my life a LOT. I am preparing not only help prolong my life, but to be an aid to others.

I could be a complete atheist and would be naive to say there isn't some tough times ahead. Most of us buy insurance for health, cars, homes,....to lessen the impact of trouble. I am preparing mostly with helping others in mind. I have lived a life that I have cherished...and thus would like to continue on as long as I can....maybe I am selfish with that last statement?

If in the end, if I am right, I at least tried and by grace will be accepted.

If in the end, if I am wrong, then I will have lived in ignorant bliss, and no one will know I was a fool when we are all gone. ...since there will be nothing.

I wish we all live as long and as full of a life as what truly is available to us...even if it ends at the grave

Gyromike, along tbose lines, I was told by a friend who was in the seminary that the concept of your soul not going to beaven if you kill yourself was begun in the 1300's during the bubonic plague. It was accepted tbat the afterlife was a better place to be so people were hastening their trip along in such great numbers that between the dead from disease and the dead from suicide the tithings from the church dropped sharply. Besseching the Vatican for financial support got them a change in policy on suicide.
It is not considered suicide to sacrifice yourself to save another.
Anyway your comment reminded me of my conversation...

Now-a-days, it is illegal to off yourself because the gubbamint has placed a 'value' on each living person....

for every living person, a certain amount of money can be borrowed by a country/nation.... if suddenly all of the sick or infirm don't survive...

and if people start topping themselves with monotonous regularity... then the amount of funds available to the rich, becomes less :noidea

There are predictions by the gubamints regarding the balance between birth and death rates.... they have forcast movements in the population and borrowed against those predictions...

If people all decide to start aborting the unborn or people topping themselves here and there... then that will interfere with their forcast :badluck

That is why merder is so frowned upon and such a song and dance goes on if someone does someone else in.... it is not the morality or humanity (or lack of) which is in question, it is the fact that one person worth $XXX has been struck off the list :badluck :pop :yoda2 :Wolvie

If it were only the morality... the punishment for attempting s'cide would be the firing squad..... but the point is, every living person has a value to the rich who own us.
