At that time period of history a lot of Jews did the same thing to save their own lives or their family's.

I met a real live Nazi once. Long story but in the 1990's Digital Satellite TV became available (Canada) and I would sell a few in my off season. Made about $300 per sale for about two hours work and a bit of gas. Telemarketers in an office would set up the appointment , fax me a map with directions , I had a flip chart showing all the features , would sign them up , then an installer would come the following week and set up the dish and receiver , was a good system and we sold lots of them

One day I got a fax from the office , said it was a guaranteed sale , all they cared about if they could get the german TV stations. Told me to be exactly on time (7:00 pm) , the gate would be open , stay in the car until the owners came out - guard dogs

Found the country lane , gate was open , came up to an expensive mansion in the middle of nowhere , a nervous old couple greeted me and brought me in the kitchen and sat me down.

Flip chart out , started showing all the stations - HBO - DISNEY they said no .... we only want the German stations. They were like a couple of children in a candy store , ordered the dish and all the Berlin Chanels , they began to relax , liked me , made some tea , then I took out my sales application (credit app) .... most people financed the dish but they refused to fill it out and said they would pay cash .

I phoned my office , found out the total with tax , cash was fine , signed the deal. The old couple were now excited and happy and we had another tea and then I headed for the door . I had done my part

Opps ... forgot something ... every sale I had to look at the back of the customers TV to make sure it had the co-ax cable plug in . Told the old couple I needed to glance at the back of their TV and then I was all done. Without thinking they ushered me into an ajoining room behind fancy double doors and the moment I stepped in I saw it was set up as a shrine to Hitler. A huge portrait on one wall , nazi flags , gold candlesticks goblets fancy memorbilia lined the room on shelves. The TV sat under the Adolph portrait

Only one dim lamp was on but I saw in an instant it was a nazi shrine , that same instant the people realized the blunder of letting me in the room .... I acted like I didnt notice anything , kept my head down , asked for a flashlight to look behind the TV .... I swear that little old lady got the flashlight form her kitchen drawer in two seconds flat , keeping my head down I looked at the TV , said it was fine and walked out of the room and never let on I saw anything. You could feel the air go out of the room with the relief they had.

I never mentioned it to anyone , none of my business , never asked the installers if they went in the room , but my guess they were likely fled Germany after the war , maybe evaded war crime trials or whatever , some of the gold was likely nazi loot , Could just picture them sitting in the room watching berlin TV surrounded by things Adolph.

When I was in Austria in the two years I have spent there I was working under the table a lot. One of my constant costumer was a guy who was a mover. I worked with "Freddie" in manufacturing , top machinist , typical of the Germans , everything high quality. He was a Hitler youth and some American soldiers took pity on him , he would steal eggs from their breakfast plates he was so hungry. They fed him and helped him get to Canada after the war.

Manufacturing can be stressful , stuff goes wrong , but when Freddie completed a project on time and under budget he would celebrate by marching up and down the factory floor saying over and over .... Adolph would be so proud of me , Adolph would be so proud of me , Adolph would be so proud of me ,

It was like he went into a bit of a trance for a couple of minutes , then snap out of it and go back to work , all us guys would glance back and forth at each other and say nothing.

Once in a while at the lunch table he would start talking to himself and say things like .... maybe the jews were not so bad , they sure invent a lot of things ..... it was like Freddy was still trying to work it all out after all those years. The Hitler Youth were totally brainwashed as kids and a lot of it stuck I guess.
