Yep. We sure did.

Arrogance?

Another thought.
My thinking is that if anything drove attendance down was $3+ a gallon gas prices drove attendance down.
Regular is $1.71 here and with it a lots of activity I haven't seen in years.
If gas prices are kept low watch the economy take off. More people driving Winnebagos, boats, etc. In other words more activity. More money spent especially for social recreation.
More beer coolers will have to be made and bought.

If you want to limit or kill and activity.....raise the price on it or tax it out of existence.
The government is buying shit loads of ammo in order to limit gun related sporting.
They don't need that amount of ammo.
Even during the Viet Nam war you could still buy .22 lr for $.75 for 50 round box.

Bensen Days will pick up when it doesn't cost a lot merely to drive there.

Just an opinion:

Polecats (politicians) get ideas (usually they are asked to do 'favors'... which are rewarded by campaign donations)... then it is their job to 'sell' those ideas to the public... so they become 'legal'... and happen. It is a corrupt circle.

IMO the folks that 'want' Benson Days to fail... have an agenda. Now who they are, what the agenda is, and who profits from it (it is almost always about someone profiting)... is the part which is usually kept quiet.

If those things were known... who profits, how they profit, and how they 'bought' the ability to profit... well it would change the make-up of the local govt.

Problem is... the next local govt would do the same thing... seems few honest folks seem to want to tarnish their name and life with politics... and I do not blame them.

Govt corruption is a mess...

Chris Lord is coming to Bensen Days. Nice!
The spots are selling out rather fast.
This is gearing up to be a good one again!

Well I got Dave Bacon and I a spot! This is going to be a party!!!
Dave hurt his arm and wont' be able to work for a few months and wasn't going to be able to afford the trip or make the party.

He would not just let me pay his way so.... Aviomania USA hired him to help tow the G2Sa 2-place out there so the party is on!!

Gabor- That awesome cook out that was at the hangar last Bensen Days was awesome. I was under the impression that would replace the banquet meal.

That is what people suggest. We are going to have to decide about that :)

Not that my opinion matters that much... however:

Seems to me when there is a 'pot luck' meal, and most of the folks have their hands in the cooking... there is less complaining.
I will volunteer to be assistant grill master if that starts the ball rolling...
Would that be a good way to start off the banquet?
Just a thought...

First, I'm gonna be there this year. I'm bringing my wife and adult daughter ( both staying at the Best Western). My two grandsons are camping out at the airport with their Papa. I'm looking forward to the Friday night at the hanger gyro family cook out. The two women would love to lend a hand with the meal prep. Last year was one of the best sit around and get to know each other times in many years. Friday is a great day to have volunteer help cook and serve food because we have the time. And for what it's worth to me $20 a head to offset the out of pocket expenses to Bud and others seems about right in today's world.
Saturday is busy with meeting the public, putting on a great safe show, having fun. Getting an outside group to cook and serve allows ALL the gyro people and their family members to enjoy Satuday. This ain't the first "rodeo" for most of those doing the planning and I'm sure they can find good food for Saturday night. Not combining the two events is my suggestion. Friday night for everyone who is there and wants to participate and Satuday catered with awards. No to limited clean up late Satrday night.

Good post Tom.
We are going to do the cook out Friday night as usual.
The banquette food will be served and made by a vendor if we get our ducks in a row.
We rather have you all enjoy the happenings Saturday instead of cooking and all.
Saturday is the main event and the most demanding on the volunteer workers.
There is just no time nor enough energy left in us by Saturday to cook.
We are trying to get a different vendor who has absolutely great food.
Let's enjoy the Saturday without having to do other chores.
At least that is what we came up with.
