Yeah... welding a structural frame in a home-built or factory built EAB aircraft...

Just does not seem a good idea to me.

Bolted plates are better.

IMO still need to do one's stress analysis though.

yes GG i think when its tube like a little wing or like vance predator its more common like a plane frame but it just a choice and many choice are good but need to be done right

What I like about bolted aluminium, is if you have been flying on rough strips or had one too many heavy landings :eek :noidea you can see what the aluminium is doing.... you get that gray goo (witness marks) between cheek plates and mast/keel if they are moving against each other.... and if you try to turn the frame bolt heads (not the nuts) if any bolts have stretched, the bolt will turn so they can be replaced...... if you decide to change the mast or other section of frame, it can just be unbolted.... can you imagine trying to inspect the frame on a LittleWing? or even many of the euro tubs with all of the flashy panel covers :noidea :realcrazy :laughing :puke3
