The only Hueys we see here in :OZ lately are mounted up poles at the returned soldiers clubs :killme :cry

So sad to see.... they were flown to the sites and craned up on the poles to rot :cry

There is a Huey, less the engine, at an army surplus store out in the boonies in the far NW suburbs of Atlanta... Stopped in and looked it over about a year ago. The blades are still on it, most of the controls and avionics are still there... even one of the seats... but the engine is gone.

Sad indeed Muz... those are classic birds of an era gone by. Wish more of them could be put to good use flying somewhere.

Yes, very sad.... even sadder, our wasteful military about 2-3 years ago.......

Burried about 30 (thirty) F111 skyhawkes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Working airplanes and parts...... buried them under tons of dirt :eek :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry

I think they saved six.... we have one here at Caloundra airport at the air museum (and they had to fight to get it)

As far as I heard, it was part of the deal with the junk :OZ bought to replace the skyhawkes.... the planes had to be removed from service permenantly, not sold.... just destroyed :killa :cry :cry
