I am sure that they will be able to salvage what is left and mix it with a few (lots) other salvaged parts, along with with some good sheet metal guys.
Oh yeah, and money, lots of money.

Some nasty looking corrosion on parts of it , can be restored I suppose

here in Canada they restored a Lancaster Bomber that had sat outside on a pedestal for many years and it is flying now

About the 4th picture shows it on the stand

Props, M-2 machine-guns, old photos. Just all kinds of stuff .
But that's not all .

Please keep the pictures coming Gary... this is really COOL!

I forgot the name of the aircraft, however there is an airworthy B-17 (one of the WW2 bombers) based somewhere in the Metro Atlanta suburbs.
Went out there and got to look all over it... even got to sit in the pilot's seat.

Those guys that risked their lives to keep America FREE... were a tougher breed than many of us today... :)

I personally believe the 2014 United States would be defeated if we fought the United States 70 years ago.

Maybe... However the new electronic toys the military has now... if used properly... would make dust of the state of the art military hardware of that era.

Now the question is whether anyone has the gonads to use the current stuff... other than to corral/control the citizens... OOOOOPS...

We out produced the enemy, 10.000 studabakers vs what we have today? The Studabakers win.
We are losing with a bunch of camel jockies because the U S leaders have no balls & are infiltrated by our enemy. :bunny

John- I am talking about the will of the people being much stronger back then. Sure, we have awesome weapons now....but a very limited number. I never will forget us running out of Tomahawk cruise missiles just 10 days into the Gulf War.

We are too PC sensitive. War is war....carpet bomb them into submission....instead of multi million dollar surgical pricks.

Our resolve back then was so much stronger.

We aren't united at all ...and that's our weakness.

The world is a different place than it was in the 1940's... yet people are the same deep inside.
There is a larger price to pay for using deadly force on thousands (or tens of thousands) of innocents... think blowing up WTC buildings.
Back then (WW2)... few COULD get to the USA to blow up a building in NYC... due to the lack of transportation. Now it is different.

We all have to learn to live TOGETHER in this messy world... yet someone has to be the cops... and the USA is the best suited for it.

I am ALL FOR the USA being the world's cops... it gives us an unfair advantage in a world of unfair attitudes and behaviors.

Freedom has always had a stiff price, both the investment of time/money and the spilling of blood. The founders understood... and we need to understand today.

If not... well our kids and grandkids may not be free...

I would HATE to lay in a hospital bed dieing.... and know my kids and grandkids would live under the rule of a tyrant like Putin... all because I was too lazy or too chicken or too cheap to provide freedom for them... :(

I agree about the PC thing and no stomach for collateral damage...
I remeber when I was young my Uncle took us to Macon Ga, and we saw a whole squadron of b-17's being used to spray for fire ants or some such thing, amd that was the 1970's, now they are mostly gone. very sad.

Good documentary about the brits Bomber group. And the Lancaster bomber

.

Those are good pictures Gary .... the guys who figure they can restore it must say to themselves .... look at all the pieces that are not corroded .... and figure they can rebuild it

I know how that works because I used to be just like that ... not with airplanes but with cars .... I was a good car painter from the first day I started .., but all my freinds only had rusted out Mustangs , Cobras , Cougars , and Chevelles , not to mention Ford Fairlanes

They had money in hand , and wanted a restoration , and a fool like me who saw all the parts of the car that were not rusted out and I said yes

I spent week after week laying on my back welding in new metal and doing bodywork just so I could have a decent surface to put my paint on.

I sure hope those guys in your area are able to restore that airplane .... my hat is off to them .... and I bet they do it ....
