Just got a fascinating email from Tim at Maxima oils. Ill fry to copy it here for you guys
Hi Ben,
Since we manufacture oils for aviation use I can safely recommend an oil to you. J
Our Formula K2 is a 100% synthetic premix only oil that would compete with the Amsoil Dominator 2-cycle oil. The Formula K2 utilizes a low ash additive package which is great for land use but is not optimal for aviation use. Ash is a lubricant but when operated at sustained RPMs for extended intervals the ash can promote spark plug failures.
We also make the AV-2 oil for Aircraft Spruce
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/e ... ionoil.php which is a 50% ester synthetic / 50% mineral oil blend. This oil is identical to our Premium 2…just relabeled for its intended use. The AV-2 (Premium 2) has been used for applications such as yours for over 15 years without issue.
In looking at the MSDS sheets for the Premium 2 and the Interceptor, the Premium 2 actually has a higher ester synthetic treat % (25-35% vs. 10-30%). Also, the Premium 2 utilizes an ashless additive system which virtually eliminates spark plug failures. This is a critical property when you are operating at altitude! I could not find any information in regards to what DI package Amsoil is utilizing in their Interceptor oil. My assumption is that it contains a low ash additive package? That said, the Premium 2 is the oil that I would recommend for your Nirvana Rodeo Paramotor.
Let me know if you have any more questions and thank you for choosing Maxima!
Sincerely,
Tim Schaeffer

Comments: Howdy from beautiful paradise!
I am using a Nirvana Rodeo Paramotor. I has always been run on Amsoil Interceptor as per manufacturers suggestion.
I am completely unable to acquire that here on the island without incurring a ridiculous price for Hazmat Shipping.
The local bike shop has Maxima oils and carries K2 as well as Premium 2, Scooter Pro 2T and Castor 927.
I am instructed by my manufacturer to use a fully synthetic oil, so I figure the castor 927 is out.
The Nirvana runs a tuned engine from Simonini Scooters. Also it is really really humid here in guam if that has an effect.
Please before you go any farther, and try to inform me that you don't recommend your oils for aviation applications, save it....I went round and round with the royal purple people who have a natural fear of their own shadows, I suspect.
I am a Bomb Disposal Tech, I am a Pilot of experimental Aircraft and I ride Motorcycles too fast, oh and I eat deep fried foods too, so yeah I'm taking the risks and your not giving me legal advice blah blah blah....
I hope you guys have a suggestion on which would most closely replicate the performance of the Interceptor or exceed it so I can continue to "risk the biscuits"
Thank you in advance
Ben
