China is kicking our butt..
Of course you could not develop and market something like this here in the US because of liability reasons.....

It is very cool, not sure about the range...being electric and all.

Not much for auto rotation...

Seriously it is cool, but not sure about how much I would trust it, probably super simple to fly, until one of those chinese solder connections goes wonky on the stabilization gyro....

Man just think of the range you would have if you strapped one of these babies to the back!

You guys know me, I'll naysmith anything!
But If your only Danger Zone is the 0 to 250 ft range because of a BRS deployment height, how different is that from a regular piston heli without one?

I do question why the pod is above the props and not below, like high wing vs low wings.
Put pod below and make it out of clear plexi like the ships in Oblivion and youll never make enough of them...

Hills, you know I know next to nothing on helis, but my thoughts here are more general.
If you were to have a catastrophic failure in this pod thingey what would that look like, just a bunch of little props stop turning all at once?
If you had a small Robbie and had a catastrophic failure what would THAT look like?
Lets say the failure was a blade separation like that alps helicopter video when the blades went bye bye...
Wouldn't't you rather be in the pod that had a BRS than not?
Now Im not gonna say for one second I trust Chicom Quality Control, but if the form proves itself and was say being made by the Swiss or Germans or USA?
Yeah I might be inclined to sit back and enjoy the ride.
No matter HOW you slice it electric motors are more reliable than the gas I.C.E.

Catastrophic failures can be avoided through proper maintenance & operation - Seen ballistic chuted machines crash just as hard. Stopped a few accidents with a good preflight. Machines will talk to you, you just have to listen...

Running the danger of being old fashioned and too traditional I will take a huge ceiling fan above me any day over little fix pitched props rotating like crazy driven by electric motors.
The time will come when these things start falling out of the sky killing people beneath them.
Chutes are for Cirrus airplanes.....still the safest form of landing with those pieces of shit!
I personally prefer freewheeling spinners above me.... the most controllable chutes EVER!
Don is right. Maintenance and preflight are the answer.
Unfortunately, I have witnessed so many times the skipping of them.
Delamination of the blades doesn't happen in an instant.
There are signs of the stress of the skin way before shit happens.
Unless of course if you flew a Marathon with one and refuel in mid air like the pros... :rofl
