Steve Greenwell...aka...Illini85 on the Rotary Forum, stopped by my stair shop yesterday.

He was at Bensen Days 2011, and I REALLY appreciated him taking time and driving out of his way to stop and say hi.

He works with rotor shafts that spin at 400,000 rpm...not a typo. He works on those high speed dentist drills. He has been into so many different areas, and is involved in large building projects also.

That is neat! You have had so many people stopping by your shop you ought to have a billboard with all the pictures taken of them.
Did I just give you your next project idea?????
:laughing

Thanks Stan. It was my privilege to get to spend a little time with you. Looking at that photo I should have started sucking in my gut sooner. Give me more warning next time.

For the rest of you guys just wait till Stan finishes and posts photos of his next home project. He's building Barbara the patio to end all patios, complete with fire pit, garden pond and waterfall. Its another quality Stan project. I don't know how he gets it all done, I'm 2 years and counting on building a deck on my house.

I envy you Steve for being able to visit Stan in his habitat. That guy has a lot to show!
Very unique and wide range interest puts him on the top of the (whom to visit) to-do list!

A note to anyone else who might visit Stan you might want to borrow my technique.

1 Knock on door loudly
2 Wait for answer
3 If no answer open door slowly
4 Loudly identify yourself as NOT A SQUIRREL....NOT A TARGET......NOT A BURGLER in that order. Stan's really got it in for squirrels. ( It's a bad idea to startle a national champion sharpshooter or someone who gave up flying the helicopter he loved for something he loves more, that being competitive pistol shooting and Stan is both.)
5 Wait for his eminence to respond. Keep your head down do not make eye contact.
6 Identify yourself as a mere mortal craftsman and request an audience
7 If Stan grants your request remove your shoes before crossing the threshold for now you are on holy ground.
8 Once over the threshold anoint yourself with a sprinkle of sawdust to purify your mind and soul for now you are in the presence of Greatness
9 Speak only if spoken to. Explain that you seek Enlightenment in all ways of Craftmanship. If possible ask for forgiveness for all the flawed cuts, mismeasurements and paint runs you have perpetrated.
10 Walk slowly toward the inner sanctum stopping to turn right and slowly bowing in the direction of his tablesaw.
11 Prepare to enjoy the time you have with Stan. It won't be enough. You'll wish you had more.
12 Oh yeah, don't forget your shoes on the way out.
