well not book smart anyways...
I remember in school I asked a science teacher once why he referred to Gravity as a Theory of Gravity...
His answer was that as every action has a equal and opposite reaction there would have to be Anti-Gravity for us to say we understood gravity completely.

I read an article the other day that made my head hurt about Gravitons and such...

Just wondered have they come up with any new answers since the 70's and I'm just out of the loop? Or is Gravity just a Theory still?

They are still teaching physics of the 1700s soooooo
Modern day physics will never replace the old fashioned ones these professors once learned and keep on teaching.
This will be however an interesting time when the conventional laws don't apply....
And they DON'T!

They dont even know... or wont say what electricity (as we know it) is...

Electricity today (as we know it) is like steam power in the modern age.... only because the wires are there and we are dumb enough to keep paying for this antiquitated stuff that they still sell it to us....

Electrons are all around us, we dont make electricity, we just get the electrons to go where we want them to....

This guy, Gerard Morin (French Canadian) is working on proving that electricity is actually high frequency radio frequency (RF) which is part of the light spectrum... so, therefore, 'electricity' should be transmittable.... like radio waves...

Watch some of his videos... cool duuuude :like :maga :wol2 :Wolvie

The vids are long, but VERY interesting

I like Gerard, I could listen to him all day. He is a funny bugger... he tells it like it is... no BS

And... people always try to debunk his experiments... he says that is good... go to his workshop and they can try anything they want...

If someone can SHOW him he is wrong, he is happy to learn... I like people like that.... :like :trup :wol2 :Wolvie

I think some people are PAID to challenge him and his experiments... because he is on to something and the big players dont like it :laughing

They find it disturbing when folks find out what they are up to.... they want the general population dumb and paying up... they dont like the truth getting in the way...

:badluck :laughing

.

At one time I read a lot about gravity but could only understand part of it ...... I think one reason they may call it a "theory" is because they still do not know if it is a "pull" or a "push"

Steven Hawkings most recent "theory of everything" stated that all that is needed is gravity and the whole universe could come into existence .... (no need for a creator etc) .... he was then asked where the laws of gravity came from and he got pissed off.

I wonder, If you weigh a 12" floor tile at sea level then take it to the top of Mt Everest and weigh it again would it weigh the same or less.

I think it weighs "less" but has the same mass.
but im no one to listen to.

I once read that if the mass of just one penny was removed from the universe everything would end up in chaos .... that is how finely tuned it is ..... in other words gravity keeps everything in place "perfectly"

The tile would weigh less the higher it is. Its all about the separation of the center of mass of the earth and the center of mass of the object being weighed.. There is a formulae for it.

What I want to know, is does a pound still weigh exactly the same at the poles as it does at the equator?

I mean, a # weight at the equator is on the outside of a planet doing 26000 mph (or there abouts) where at the poles, it is revolving, not moving at speed... no centrifugal force? :noidea :pop :yoda2 :Wolvie

Duh!! :der

A pound of eggs weigh heaps more :laughing

But, if you want to get really heavy.... a pound of squirrels takes the cake...

Speaking of taking the cake, this possum was found in a bakery :beefcake it was so full of cakes it couldn't move :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

Ahhh....yes Heli, but which weighs more a pound and a half of feathers or a pound and a half of gold?

I believe the weight of the atmosphere is pushing down everything on earth, not gravity holding it down. The floor tile would have less air pushing it down at the higher altitude. I'm not magnetic, I never attract anything except dirt.

However, at the center of the earth, the tile would weigh nothing, but have all the pressure of the world upon it.

If the tile were on the moon, it would weigh 1/6th as much, and have no atmosphere pushing on it at all.

The atmosphere pushes on all sides, even from the bottom. It only creates pressure.

This is somewhat true, leaving out the effect of gravity well, an item with mass would be weightless at the center of the earth, but the item itself would be a source of gravity.
The laws of gravity came into existence with existence.
I am a firm believer that the eternal universe always was and always will be.
The minute amount we know about our universe leaves us with very few facts.
Our visible universe is so small compared to the eternity of mystery we can not even fathom.
Our universe is smaller than the point of a needle to the negative googol power.
There are other stellar formations out there we no nothing about.
Our universe is determined by only what we can see, how arrogant .

Jake...Well said. It blows my mind the enormousy of our visible universe, yet we see but a minute fraction of it. I personally believe if you could put the Hubble telescope on the farthest visible galaxy ..and take another picture in the same direction, you would find another galaxy 13 billion light years away.

I also believe the universe is infinite going microscopically as well. Take the smallest particle we know of and if you could magnify it a billion times, you would find more particles, and could repeat this forever. Infinity in both directions is what I believe. We are right in the center of magnification....in my opinion.

What you say about infinitely small supports my hypothesis that our solar system is just the nuclei of a turd from a larger realm.

Yep....and our whole known universe may just be varely visible under a humongous microscope built 10 to the 1000th power the size of us.
