Dang, bad day yesterday we had to put our loyal puppy to rest.
She found us about 13 years ago and had been a super dog. Very loyal rode in the truck with me whenever I went on short trips to Lowes or home depot or just down to the gas station. Liked to ride with Mama Gyro on the golf cart, always let us know when someone came up the driveway. First to greet me when I come home from work.
She would always sit behind the gyro when I would warm the engine, she liked the wind in her face.
She was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver a few months ago. We got her on liver meds and a special diet, she was doing well but started having strokes.
Sunday she apparently had another and was having trouble standing and sitting and was acting confused. well it did not get any better over the last couple of days, We took her to the vet and had her checked out and decided that we should let her go while she still had some dignity.
Even though I had been preparing myself for this day it was still hard and I
cried like a baby.
:cry

I am so sorry to hear that. I have gone through the same thing myself too with my Rottie. They become family. It is hard to make the call....... :cry and

Thanks. Yes it is rough to lose a friend of so many years.
Not even thinking about another dog at this point, maybe later.

Been there and done that .
One of the hardest things I ever had to do.

Citabria the day we got her and the day we set her free 12 years later.

Sorry Elwood... it hurts.

Remember the good stuff... and give yourself time to grieve the loss. Then go to the pound and get yourself another mutt.
Mutt's are the best... they just appreciate a home.
