That must have left a mark.....and the bike probably did not buff out just fine either....

yep that was ugly....but as it explains you can see how he panicked and instead of counter steering he cause the bike to head right into the path of the truck that He wanted to avoid..you lean a motorcycle to make it turn, you don't steer it..

The video neglected to mention that there is a speed component to counter steering. Usually any speed over 5 -10 mph will use counter steeri g but very slow speeds in a parking lot dont... your not leaning the bike.

True Benry, I have seen plenty of people dump their bikes in parking lots at slow speed. Same with hitting the brakes in a corner, the bike will stand up and take a wider path, exact opposite of what you need it to do in a decreasing radius turn...Just like flying skills, they need to be honed and kept sharp.

Yeah, cant be too careful on a bike.... especially if no one warns you there is a cable across the road
Alot of people don't realise on a motorbike, to turn right, you first do a tiny left turn as you begin to turn right.... That video sort of explains it, but not well enough... If you tell someone to turn left to go right, they will just fall off... what they should say is you steer left for a tiny split second, then follow by turning right as you lean right once the turn is established. How that video explains it, he should have just turned the handlebars to the left... to go right.... if he had turned the bars to the left and left them there, he would have just layed the bike down on its right side and slid under the truck.
He had a long enough distance to begin with for him to have just leaned right and then once turning follow with the bars to the right as required. I can see what the video is trying to say, but to me it will just confuse learners... saying to turn the bars left to go right.... in actual fact, on the road, the left flick is hardly noticeable... where on a motorcross track (or low speed in a car park) you see it very clearly. Next time you are sitting in traffic and a mike weaves around going thru the stopped traffic, you will see it very clearly.... or if you are riding thru a small gap like in thru the small side door of a shed. It is the same in a gyro.... if you are flying along and want to do a big, sharp banking turn to the left, you would flick the stick to the right real quick, then follow to the left and back.... makes the radius of the turn so much smaller...
Also, using a little back brake can make the front turn tighter than it should.... watch the supermoto guys... it is awesome how they turn using the back brake on tarmac....
I wonder if that guy in your video survived Scotty? Sure he hit a fire truck with medics on board.... it didn't say if it saved him? The weird thing is, it looks like the truck is in the wrong.... I have nightmares like that. Over here, we drive/ride on the left, the truck would be on your 'wrong side' over here. We often get tourists from LHD countries on the wrong side of the road here.... and grand ma and grand pa going the wrong way on the interstates

When I was in the Air Force over in Hawaii, the Australian Navy guys would come into port, and besides all the "sailor on shore leave" activities they would partake in, there were always plenty that rented mopeds and had a few drinks and would wind up driving on the wrong side of the road yelling and cursing at the tourists.
