Kind weird without the proper sound, but looks like battery and motor technology is really moving forward.

My son and I watched a motocross in Denver and the ekectric KTM took second overall out of 100.
It was neat.

An old boss had a Husqvarna 360 automatic and it didn't sound right either.... it had no engine braking at all... that sounded weird.

He was the guy who was offered alot of money for it but he refused to sell until the price went up even more as it was VERY rare....

Then a container was found at a shipping yard in Finland that had been lost for 20 or 30 years and it had about 40 of them brand new in their boxes and a bunch of spares....

So it weren't rare any more.... he was not impressed (to say the least) :badluck :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

What will the old people be able to whine about now? :noidea

Usually they moan about the noise?

I suppose they can still complain about the dust and dirt bikes always running over baby harp seals and dolphins and stuff? :dizzy :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

You Hush Benry!

Hmmmm. Let's see. Levy a tax on a non-existent issue and somehow this helps solve the non-existent issue.
but we can feel better about ourselves because we are saving the planet.. :puke

Talk like that makes me want to kill baby harp seals!

I do hope that they are more waterproof than a cell phone!!!

I think the motor and all is liquid cooled internally so I guess it would be pretty water resistant.

Now you are more likely to hit a deer on a trail since they can't hear you coming miles away.

At least they would be safer for us old guys to ride.... they should come with some defribulator pads mounted on the handle bars so if we have a heart attack whilst riding and we fall on the handlebars, it can zap us back to life? :laughing :yoda2 :wol2 :Wolvie

At least you don't have to try to kick start it!
I remember kicking my old Yamaha yz 400, it would kick back and drive your knee right into the handlebar, (ouch!)

This is crazy, I was talking with a buddy today about electric bikes and he had a story. he said that an electric bike ran into someone will hiking in the woods, the hiker walked out in front of it because he could not hear it. I thought ok, he went on to say that they installed a sound system that had recordings of all kinds of motorcycles so that would not happen again. I said the tree huggers should have been happy with a green, quiet motorcycle. I guess some people would not be happy if you hung them with a new rope.

I had the road registerable 'trail bike' of that long ago... I don't know if you remember the yellow colored 'enduro' model.... DT400 I think it was? :laughing

Mine was horrible on road and horribler on dirt.... all noise and no action. No where near as good as the YZ it looked like.... :badluck :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

Yeah The YZ was a beast! Mine had been bored out to 490 CC, and heaps of compression, it was a wheelie machine for sure, heavy for a dirt bike since it was so big, I could not put both feet on the ground, had to slide one side off the seat, The kids has Kawasaki KX-80's and Mama had a yamaha dt175. We used to do a whole lot of dirt riding on weekends.

Ah the good old days....

Yes have heard of that one, but if you don't need to go 200mph on the way to work, ..

Have you heard of these guys?
http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/motorcycles/

I am not sure about the quietness of electric bikes, I mean I always believed that loud pipes were kind of like the beepers on folk lifts and stuff, a safety device to let people know there is a motorcycle operating in the area,
:laughing

I mean I constantly had people cut me off in traffic when I had my honda CX500, But hardly ever
on my Harley XLCH with straight pipes. :noidea

Would be nice to not have to buy gas for the daily commute.

Whats up with this?
Lightning motorcycles: The company custom-makes each bike, and will only sell it to customers in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is advertised as the worlds fastest production electric motorcycle, and at least one has been delivered.

What? Only gay transgender metro sexual liberal girly men in skinny jeans with man bun haircuts living in their parents basements with a degree in gender studies and $100,000 student debt can buy one?
:realcrazy

How many do they expect to sell? The San-Fran crowd is hardly what I would call the correct demographic for that type of motorcycle riders... :noidea scooters maybe.....

That suggests to me that the buyers will be more like 'investors' so all of the bikes will be sold near them, so when the expected blow ups happen, the bike is within reach of the factory. If they sold one to Canada or Australia, if there is issues, it would be a nightmare getting the bike back to the factory to see what is wrong with it... and I would say the factory would continuously fit upgraded parts as problems arrive... so the 'OWNER' is actually paying big bux for the privilege of being the :Cheapass test rider.... and it will likely be contracted that the bike (s) can be accessed for advertising etc.... so they want them close by.... :noidea :yoda2 :Wolvie

In other words.... they are not really ready yet... also, they are prolly only able to be registered in Kalifornika.... they prolly have a deal with the DMV...

And they prolly don't want the Chinese to buy one to copy :laughing
