Yes. It seems that there is an object hovering. No question. It is there and it's not a lens or something on the lens!

That's a neat looking machine. I never really paid attention to them before, but at $15K plus engine and instruments that's a steal of a deal!

Thanks, Muz. I was able to enhance your photo and identify the object. Clearly, the Martians are interested in the Tango gyroplane. I have so advised their marketing department.

We just need to change the ship to a Tango 1

Thanks Gerald.
I love to watch your videos. Very nice!
Jon do you feel that the landing gear having a suspension adds to the ability of the machine?
I personally prefer machines with suspension opposed to rigid.
They both have their pros and cons but I was just wondering if it is a plus in your opinion?
One SkyCruiser owner phucked up big time the landing and the suspension on it pretty much saved his butt.
That extra little cushion can do magic at times.

I am NOT a fan of spongy suspension on the mains, as on a Dominator or Air Command. The Tango gyroplanes have a very stiff, yet still flexible suspension. It has a little give on a hard impact, and I suppose that's OK. The Bulldozer (yes, it is STILL being rebuilt) has no give in the gear at all. For my own use, I prefer that. But it is designed to tag the tail wheel first on landing.

That said, I don't use a lot of grass fields or rough runways. That would change my preference, I think.

The "euro-tubs" are all "land-on-the-gear-and-ignore-the-tail-wheel" designs. I think for that method of landing, a bit of wiggle potential in the main gear is probably a good thing.

Jon, even on rough or unprepared runways, soft suspension or alot of travel is not a good idea... to me, suspension only needs to be there enough to stop the wheel snapping off like a carrot if you have a ..... lets say, less than good landing :laughing

I prefer spongy tires and stiffer suspension... then plan to be on the ground at speed for as little time/distance as possible. Being such a high CofG when on its wheels, with alot of suspension, a gyro can easily lean so much you cant get it back resulting in a roll over.... if the ground is not level it is worse and it is hard to stay straight on a runway or road with a center crown.... :badluck :yoda2 :Wolvie

Muz,

I think we are on the same page. I really don't like squishy machines. I prefer any squish to be limited to the tires.

The Tango suspension is fairly tight and does not squish. It will give slightly on a hard landing, but that's about it.

Yes Jon, I have followed other machines on un level strips and paddocks getting ready to take off an I have been nervous watching the lean angle they get to sometimes. :eek

As I have said often, gyros are awesome flying machines... but terrible ground machines at any speed, or if the ground isn't level.... and if they start tipping over, there is not much chance of holding them up physically.... especially without a linked nose wheel. They are generally fine on smooth, level runways...... however, there is not always a smooth level runway around in an engine out :noidea :laughing :wol2 :Wolvie
