Everybody join in to welcome our newest member Geoff (ID: geoffscales). Gabor encouraged him to come to Wauchula last Saturday and the winds let up enough for him to get an intro ride with Davie so now he's hooked like the rest of us!!!!!!

Welcome aboard Geoff. There are no rules in here as far as posting. A few cuss words are encouraged though. I am glad you got to ride with Davie.

Welcome Jeff, glad you are aboard!

I see you have that grin on your face... check for bugs in your teeth... :laughing

Gyro's are a wonderful way to enjoy flying as many of us think it should be: Open and free!

Hope you get a gyro and join the ranks of airborne misfits, er, gyro-nauts. :gyro2

I am just about sick and tired of all you Wauchula guys having all the fun.....I am going to write my congressman and see if I can get some kind of Obama mandate for equal flying weather for all gyro pilots........It's not fair! :cry

Yeah, I agree... Even us builders are held back by this weather...

How is your build coming along?

The build is on hold right now until after Bensen Days, I am finishing up the kitchen/laundry room remodel. And I had to steal the engine and put it in my car. I do have another engine to rebuild, I have been acquiring parts and ideas. It has been on hold for the last 2 years, but at least I still have the Dominator to fly!

Wish I had one to fly... guess that is the curse of being a 'newbee'.... :)

The hanger is a 140+ mile round trip for me... and there is no weather protected shop at home currently... so my progress is limited to once a week. I seem to be in the middle of lots of little things going on concurrently... however each of them is progressing. When these sub-assemblies are completed... lots of them will go onto the airframe quickly... so a big amount of progress will happen. Until then... well patience is the word.

The only major mods from Bud's Doma-Rue I am making are:
*Hydraulic brakes with toe rather than heel brake points at the rudder pedals.
*A pushrod rudder system similar to Gabor's
*A spring loaded rear wheel similar to Gabor's
*A side electrical control panel with boat throttle
*And a pod instrument panel (note this pod has to fit inside the next item)
*The nose/windshield will be modified so it will go on and off easily... without hassle. I have a few cool ideas for this... may require re-shaping the profile of the nose a bit... have not thought them out all the way yet.

Thankfully... it is not flying season. If it were... I would be more fussy than I am now. Wish I had a Benson or KB or something to fly a little while I am at the hanger... a mix of fly and work would be nicer than all work... :)

Definitely more than:
:2weeks
To finish this build... :)

John- The reward awaiting you flying something you have built or highly modified will make all your effort worthwhile....Looking forward to talking to you at Bensen Days. Are you bringing your Subinator as a static display?

Yes Stan, I know... The rewards are worth it... and the patience one learns doing it right rather than rushing it... is a lesson of life one should tweak on a regular basis.

No, The Subinator will not be down. I have not gotten far enough to make it worth while to bring it... would be a stick frame rolling with a motor. She needs to be at least 90% done to do a proper static display. Perhaps at Mentone... she will be ready and flying.
