I had my first lesson this morning in an Aircam with Richard Johnson in Winter Haven. What a frikkin blast!
We did about 15 or 16 water landings, single engine landings, power on and power off stalls and a couple of land landings.
What a sweet baby of an aircraft.
I was kind of anxious before, thinking I'd screw up not being used to using pedals much, but no such fears were necessary.
The Aircam is so docile and predictable and easy to fly. Water landings and takeoffs were a breeze.
Amazing performance off the water in 7-8 seconds easily. She just popped off the water. Pretty sure it can be done even faster with a few degrees of flaps.
Also great to have the twin engines for water turns etc..
We flew simply from beginning to end, no trim, no flaps. Off course that will all be added, but cool to know she is so simple to fly.
Got my amphib grin on for sure. A pic or two of the aircraft and my hairy thighs for Muz.

I could probably delay that 7-8 seconds to about 34-35 seconds.....
I have a talent for it.

Jeff- That is such a cool machine.

I have over 800 hours solo hours in 4 different gyros, around 300 in two helicopters, 175 in certified fixed wing, and around 100 hours in an ultralight.

Everytime I fly in a fixed wing, there is just a more secure feeling that that wing wont come off. I never felt the same confidence when under a rotor.

I know the statistics of a rotor failing are very rare, but just sayin.

Of course both have unique advantages......but when you own both sides of the fence, you can go graze at whatever side you choose. Good for you.

Being open completely and with short takeoff and landings, this aircraft feels a lot like being in the gyro. The fact that today at least we did not mess with flaps etc at all made it pretty simple like the gyro as well. Stan did you ever do any water stuff? The seaplane thing is the funnest thing I have ever done. I got the single seaplane rating in a cub last year, but this thing just blows the cub out of the water, so to speak.

Jeff- I have never flown as a pilot or a passenger in a float plane. With all that water around that you have, that would be enticing. I would be landing on some secluded lake, get out the fishing pole and just relax.

With that many engines.... it would take off in 7 - 8 seconds even if you forgot to put the wings on

How long until your frilly machine will be ready for testing?

Supposedly when properly set up flaps wise and stuff, the Aircam can be off the water in 4 seconds.
The hope and plan is to be done with the build March / April net year.
