So I am running Linux xubuntu on my crappy computer at home in the shop, it has been working fine, I keep getting update notifications from linux, so OK fine go ahead and do the updates, firefox etc....so it updates and I restart and all I get is a black screen, not even a blinking cursor, totally black, great!!! as if I don't have enough to work on...........
I was able to bring windows back up, but even that is not 100%
I may just have to pull the hard drive out and get all my files moved to my portable hard drive...sucks!

:killa :killbunny :badluck :loser

I thought about one of these since I am tired of the big bulky computers.....

but I am such a cheap ass... :Cheapass

I still have a computer upstairs, and a small laptop/netbook.... I just need a shop computer for looking up manuals, and checking this forum and posting pictures of my build....i will worry about videos when I start flying again..

Dang I had a computer up and running, then this morning it just beeps and will not boot up....

So I took the hard drive out and put it in the old crappy computer that died last month and reloaded linux on it...seems to be working fine now...but for how long?
I will get off some money shortly and get a new one soon since i am running out of spare computers and parts...

Hi Scott - if you put in an extra hard drive - a SSD - then it could be okay.

Always depending upon what you want to use it for.

I built a badass gamer machine and I love it.

Cheers
Erik

I believe Windows 10 is the precursor to that.
Ubuntu used to run great on an old computer I had until they moved some of the functions to the cloud.
I gave up on waiting. It sits in the closet now along with the old XP computer that Microsoft slowed down.
Bastards.

I am sure that when everyone stores their stuff on the cloud, that it will be totally secure....move along, nothing to see here..

Scott, you need to find a cheap one that's not very thick so you can roll around on it in comfort.

If you were over in Scotland, would the song be, "Hey McCloud,..... get offa my ewe!" :noidea

Good idea Norm, my back is still a little sore from rolling around on those rotax engines... :laughing
