TV was described as a "vast wasteland" back in the 1950's.....even more so now. That is why I do not watch TV, I will watch netflix if I can find something worth watching.... The whole problem with reality shows, is that it is not reality, it is just as boring as your job... I would hate to have someone watch my life for entertainment......they would be hard up and must have an extremely boring life themselves..But hey that's just me. But that Russian skid steer truck is cool.

Henry Bowman wrote: The "reality" gunshop shows were the worst!!! Those kiddie banging fucktards at Red Jacket had to assemble a 50 cal M2 for a "customer"..... But never mention shit like the "customer" is already a class 3 dealer and could just put it together himself. If he wasn't a class 3, they just commited at least 3 felonies on TV just talking to him about the job! Or the stupid Colorado one where the guy flies a bell 212 out to a farm with a dufflebag full of cash to buy a machine gun collection? Not fucking likely! Oooo these shows piss me off! Right with you there Hen... that is about when I stopped watching that one.... that was the show with the dark haired bimbo daughter and the jeep wasn't it? I lost track of them, they are all shit. The one that irritates me the most, I cant even watch ads for the show is that one where the bald guy with the tall leggy bimbo blonde trades cars from a warehouse.... and the bimbo does alot of the selling/trading to try to make her look as bright as possible They are all shit and they are all staged for the cameras

I started out liking the show Man Tracker where the old cowboy tracker follows faint footprints, bent grass , broken twigs , disturbed stones , while chasing a couple of university student athletes through the mountains
I figured it was the real thing ... how could they fake that , and why would they .
Well that came to a crashing halt when on one show I saw the shadows of about 6 TV camera crew surrounding the "lone" cowboy on a "pristine" trail ..... never mind the big camera crew tromping along behind the students as they ran ahead
Puck !!! sorry if I ruined that show for anyone else , I was pissed when I realized it was all staged , or at the very least a re-enactment staged for the TV cameras.
A TV crew of 4-12 people would trample the ground like a herd of elyfunts heading for the f j ranch in Kansas

Who did you think was filming it Arnie Same as those storage wars shows.... you mean to tell me they don't set up the 'finds'? Those shows are all staged.... I saw a Bear Grilles show once, where he found a fallen power pole and decided to keep some of the wire 'Just in case' ... then, later in the show, he had to climb down from a ridge to a tree that was 50' out... lo and behold, suddenly he had somehow managed to use the 20' of power wire to shimmy across to the top of the tree (50'away) after somehow being able to tie firmly the power wire around the tree (safely) and have it tight-rope tight..... all after having 50+ foot of rolled up power wire that you never actually saw him carry in the first place? I thought it was kind of like catching MaGuyver in a bush hut using an angle grinder or sawsall If there is cameras involved.... it will be staged for sure... It is all just designed to sell more nutra-boolits and vacuum cleaners anyway

My favorite show is Pawn Stars and sometimes Restoration Garage
With an occasional gust of Barry Weiss (Storage wars) when he is driving his cars or trucks
Gosh I love this car. .

Bear is a phoney. He has been outed publicly so many times you cant keep track. Now Survivorman on the other hand was legit survival advice and skills done solely by Les Stroud. He is the shit! In one episode of a frozen wasteland, hes mumbling.to himself that the lousiest part of his job is the constant back tracking so he can set up a damn camera, the trudge back and walk towards it again for the show! He even filmed himself with a second camera showing how he would "leap frog" the cameras so he would have coming to and going away from shots. When I think of what he put himself through for the show in real time survival situations its quite an acomplishment. He alwyas had a sat.phone and tracker and on at least one occasion he called for a dust off because he just couldnt take it any more. If youve never watched it, Survivorman is worth the time.

One or two hard ones at the fly in this weekend. But I wear my knee pads. They make it all okay! Really getting the hang of it....its just slow going. Still having problems with ground rush since the accident. Im okay as long as I dont look at the ground.

Same with motorcycles, don't look at what you are trying to avoid, (You will hit it) look where you want to go.. Good call on the knee pads!

I used the same trick trying to teach people hovering. It becomes waaaay too much information for the brain to process. Eyes are outside not on the ground! There you go!

I must do it wrong.... I not so much look at the ground, but my vision goes between the end of the landing zone and where I am expecting to touch down, once about to touch down, my eyes concentrate mainly towards the end of the runway, but in my peripheral vision, I am very aware of the ground even tho not concentrating on it.... hard to explain, but hopefully you catch my meaning But yes, if all you concentrate on is the spot you want to land on, you will prolly go for a really 'unladylike' roll on whatever you just landed on...

GEEZUS MUZ!!! I damn near spit milk out my nose.... Please dont let any of my friends see that pic! With the added weight of a 4 month staycation I am starting to look just like that!
As for target fixation you guys are correct. Its just hard not to flash back to my second to last gyro flight and what I saw just before impact. (Last flight was at your fly in with Greg S. in his two seat Dom) for those of you who havent done it, watching your rotors hit the ground in front of you will make an impression! Take my word for it and please dont try it. Also this is not to be construed as me.being afraid to fly a gyro nor why I didn't rebuild....it was the portability of the PPG that got me. And it is that. I can load up my truck, drive across town to the dunes, unpack and set up,take off and fly for 30 minutes and land, repack and stow and drive home in under 1 hour! Done it! It.used to take me 35 minutes just to get to the airport!
