The Queen was sitting at the red light waiting for it to turn when a car ran into her. Damn. She seems ok just sore neck and shit. So I am going to pick her up and a car pulls right into mine. No damage on mine....what the hell????? Must be some celestial misalignment or something....

The hitch pretty much took the hit. This would have been worse without that hitch sticking out about a foot. Now it's tucked in

I think there is frame damage, the doors are wedged in and the warping shows signs of the hatchback part being bent down.

Looks like the car that hit her, was MUCH worse off ... & doesn't THEIR (3rd party) insurance ...pay for YOU TO REPLACE / REPAIR????? ( their fault 100% ... not yours!!) YOUR insurance would cover IF the other party was uninsured ??? ...usually!??? Damn ... that vehicle still looks too nice to write-off! .... if the hitch took much of the impact ...I can see how that would translate into hidden frame warping! BUGGER! ... didn't look too bad - cosmetically! It's (Insurance) such a screwed up & convoluted system ... then there is the deductible ... & too many claims in a certain period ... the bastards ...jack up the deductible!!

Apparently if the repair is over 51% they rather just total it. Which would suck because of all the money I have put into it would be lost. Apparently they don't care about that fact. They will get an average price for the year and model and that's their price. As soon as they salvage it it's toast. Just bought new tires, new radiator, complete head re-done with new timing belt and the goodies. 4 big G into it. They will probably total it for about 1300 bux. I hate this.

How is the Queen? She is all that is important here.... mechanical junk can be fixed/replaced. Give my best wishes to her .... from the other wolverines too I am sure Surely the other person will have to pay for a replacement? Also.... surely you can ask to buy back the wreck from your insurance company? If you still have the car in your possession, maybe pick up some other wheels with old but serviceable tires and keep your wheels and new tires? Same for any accessories or other stuff you bought?

I've decided to put one of Scotty's smoker kits on my truck so when idiots tailgate me or they act stupid in traffic near me the good ole smoke screen should do the trick. OK maybe not but after reading this - spikes on the rims and a road warrior setup seems appropriate as suitable damage control. Freakin unbelievable. But hey the X-files are back on TV......Give Maulder and Sculley a call. they might have a theory or two. Glad you both are seemingly OK. Feeling for ya's.

Son of a gun ... I was nearly asleep and I thought I got a slight whiff of something burning. Got up and checked around and remembered several hours ago I had put a couple frozen high quality European wieners on low heat for a midnight snack.
Midnight came and went and I forgot. The water had evaporated from the pot but nothing was burned so I just finished eating two big hot dogs.
The whole thing worries me ... I am not forgetful like that .... especially when it comes to food HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'm fading fast and off to bed again but here is one quick tidbit
You have a $10,000 car (dealer book price) (fair market value) You have an accident and insurance says it is a total loss (write-off) So now they have to pay you for it
If it is high mileage , poorly maintained , poor tires , dirty interior , faded paint , the insurance company says NO WAY can you get $10k for it . They try to offer you $5k or at the most $6k
If that same car is clean , well maintained , has brand new tires and lots of receipts to show for all repairs the insurance company will say NO WAY are we paying more than book value . All we offer is $8k and at the most $9k
They will always reduce price based on condition , but never increase price based on condition. Bastards
But Gabor is stubborn and tells the adjuster $10k or he wont settle So Gabor gets his $10,000 Insurance company now owns the car Insurance company sells it at salvage auction for $4,000 It only cost the insurance company $6,000 to settle a $10,000 claim . Bastards
Some back yard mechanic buys the salvage , scrounges up some used parts , fixes the car , sells it for $8,000 and Gabors car is back on the road.

Or you could buy it back from the ins co and part it out, or pay a local body shop the stretch the frame back out. Don't settle for the first offer on the ins... Last summer my Son was working in Texas on a long term project for his company, he got rear ended in his 2002 Mercedes AMG 32, he had just paid it off, (of course) so the car runs drives just fine, just lots of damage to the rear, so they total it....They made him a low ball offer and he contested it, his car was clean, well maintained, good tires, one of only 1300 imported that year..bla bla bla.....the insurance co did come off more $$$ to make it right..still sucks.... Back when I was a newly wed, my lovely bride T-boned a lexus in my honda accord, I had the car towed to a local Honda dealer where a good friend of mine worked. I met him there after work, and removed most of the damaged front end parts and we put the car on the frame rack and pulled it back into shape.....It was like that movie Christine, where the car fixes itself....As we pulled the frame, the front tire moved forward, the door lined back up, the dent in the roof disappeared...We cross measured and checked everything for square, threw the fender, bumper, headlights in the trunk and I drove it home before dark that evening...Car drove just fine. Bought a few parts at the salvage yard and fixed it back up. I sold it to my Cousin cheap, and she drove it all through college and then sold it to someone else who put many more years on it....
Yeah it sucks that is for sure.....
Oh yeah and I am glad you did not burn your weenies Arnie.

Car Insurance companies have huge revenues , millions and billions of dollars
Paying for repairs on collision damaged cars or paying for written off cars is one of the lowest costs in the whole business
Personal injury claims , lawsuits , hospitalization costs , ambulance chasing Lawyers get the majority of the money paid out by insurance companies
It comes to millions and billion of dollars
But they still try to skin the honest hard working little guy four a couple of thousand . Bastards.
Gabor , find out the fair market value for your vehicle , you wont get all your recent maintenance costs back , you may lose a few hundred , but dont let them skin you
And if they hassle you too much tell them your wife is complaining about a sore neck and a bit of whiplash and it might cost about $10,000 for her pain to go away. All of a sudden he might think it is a bargain to pay you the right value for your car.
