Honeywell sux. Period.
Although the thermostat clearly states it is designed for heatpumps......
Well it turns out it's not.
So I have installed the programmable thermostat for her during last summer.
Now that the cooler weather kicked in she needed heat.
It had burnt the transformer twice and not a tedbit of heat.
So the next transformer had a circuit breaker on it.
Kicked it off every time the airhandler came on.
Turns out it's not compatible with the damn outside unit.
So I went out and bought another on that had a whole bunch of more connections than the previous Honeywell.
The original was also Honeybunny.
So breaking down the wiring and the schematics I had realized the new one isn't much of a help because I was measuring out the pins and the switching in between them was just crazy and made no sense once it was in heat more.
For some reason the AC pin sorting was correct but at heating mode the freaking compressor wasn't getting juice.
So if you guys ever run into this particular problem short the red wire (juice 24V) with the white.
If the heat comes on throw the thermostat away. It's garbage.
If it doesn't make a shunt between Yellow and the White and voila.
MOFO
Spent my better half of the day on it.....
:punch

LOL. Actually I do have a certificate of it.
Went to school and graduated after my metallurgy majoring.
I was working as an electrician for a short period of time in Hungary.
Didn't like the elements. Our company was maintaining those tall street lights.
I hated the freaking cherry picker swinging in high winds.
Working overhead wasn't fun either.
Changing ballasts and stuff......
Then I decided to just freaking leave the whole thing :wol

LOL I actually have a vocational degree in A/C and refrigeration. I too was an electrical journeyman for a period in my younger days when I still thought I was invincible.

Now I am just a seasoned idiot!! LOL :)

Gabor did not read the directions again is my guess :boink .......Gab....remember that little A/C problem you had with your unit a few yrs. ago.....I still chuckle about that!!! :laughing

Glad you got your kids heat working without burning the house down. :dance or electrocuting yourself :goofy  :whoop

Well Honeywell says if you have anything more then 4 wires call a technician.
Yeah...aha....I will..... Sunday afternoon those techs are standing in line to come out.
BS. If you advertise you product to be compatible with all makes and models you should have the wiring diagram for all makes and models and ditch the fucking Spanish instruction so you can have enough space to tell what wire needs to be connected in what mode and to what pin.
Simple as that.
Fuckers
:sf-fight
