I copied this from the "other" forum in case you have not seen it.

Go Roy!

The World Air Games are held every 4 years and is an aviation event based on the Olympics.
About 8 months ago, I was honored to be asked by the WAG selection committee if I would be interested in representing the US in the Gyrocopter events.
The WAG offered to ship my gyro to Dubai or I could have a choice of flying one of 4 gyros that they would make available in Dubai I had a choice of a Magni, MTO Sport, Calydus or an Arrowcopter. I chose an MTO Sport. Roy Hanan, a local Florida Auto Gyro dealer was gracious enough to lease me his machine to practice for two weeks prior to going to the Dubai. I managed to put in 21 hours of practice which mainly consisted of spot landings.
The competition consists of a short takeoff over a 1 meter high tape transitioning into a pylon race then to position for a slow flight down the runway staying below 15 feet and not making contact with the runway then a climb to 1000 feet, Shutting the engine down and flying down the runway then turning downwind to a spot landing.
I arrived in Dubai yesterday, 29 Nov and will be staying through 12th Dec
There are 2 days of training on the 1st and 2nd of Dec followed by competition.
I am here to have a good time meeting gyro pilots from all over the world and to enjoy competing. It will be great to stand on the podium representing the Sunstate Rotor Club, the PRA and the USA but with a sum total of 21 hours on the MTO, I might just have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to bring home Gold, Silver or Bronze.
Wish me luck, I will keep you posted
Regards
Roy Davis

That is really pretty awesome - particularly considering his time in an MTO.

They have the day off today and will be back to the competition tomorrow.
I am impressed by the relaxed rules of flying over water and close to spectators.
You could never get away with that here.
Hell they even challenged me on sitting on a chair in the middle of the airfield being a target.......
I am glad the wussyfication has not reached yet every place.
GO Roy!

I've been to the Red Bull Air Races in San Diego - over water and people just the same
