You will love the book. An MD that discovered the truth about health & wellness.

Another good book which lays out the truth about diet is The Metabolic Typing Diet. Some people need mostly carbs, others need mostly protein and the rest somewhere in between. Aslo most of the warnings about saturated fat are unfounded and for some people red meat it essential for proper nutrition.

A good site for natural health information is http://www.mercola.com, a DO near Chicago, although he makes a lot of money selling supplements so you have the sales pitches intermixed with the good information.

Ya know... we laugh at that... BUT:

There are records of guys in Siberia (ridiculously COLD) who eat what they want, smoke, get drunk regularly...

And live to be centenarians (over 100). Go figure.

I don't know about that....bacon and tobacco killed my grandpa. He only lived 93 years.

Ray- My grandpa only lived to be 92, and he had bacon and eggs, and homemade bread almost daily!

My dad will turn 93 in 3 weeks......but even though he ate bacon and eggs, it wasn't as often. Maybe that's why he is making it to 93.

My Dad grew up on Bacon & eggs, and turns 90 in 2&1/2 hours from right now :)

My Dad only made it to 87... died in the summer of 2012... He was a good guy... :)

And yeah, he ate bacon and eggs... and omlets and pancakes and burgers and fries and cokes and whatever he wanted.

That was my paternal grandpa. My maternal grandpa I never met since he died of pneumonia when my mom was only 4 years old. However my maternal grandma lived into her nineties and a PC dietician would have nightmares after seeing what foods she prepared. Sunday dinners were belt stretchers.

No. I believe that is one dish I haven't tried. I like boiled cabbage with bacon or fatback cooked in it.
Bacon or fatback thrown in with limas, butter beans , peas and such always taste better. Greens too.

Good southern cookin' there guy... one will not get cancer eating that and working a good day's work.
