"Historic" flight for "TTT"!!!!

Yesterday afternoon ...after Chris dusted off the rust & cobwebs (being a month since last flight) with a 1/2 hour of flying in the pattern & an assortment of landings & approaches ...... Jim shoehorned into the rear seat & we went off to fly around the farm & neighborhood ..... enjoyed circling the relly's & neighbors who came out & waved. Jim has a 1/2 gyro- grin . Now ..... be a FULL one when he gets the next round of lessons done & he gets solo endorsement! Tried out the home strip with touch'n goes! ...all that work raking,rock-picking mulching, seeding & mowing-mowing-mowing all summer ... paid off at last!!!!

Today Chris went out solo to practice windy-weather flying ... as needs LOTS of practice before the EAA fly-in & doing intro-rides early Oct. The stability of the machine is amazing ..... nice wind from 170 ... 17-25kts ... I really thought I'd just pop up feel insecure :bitch ...HA ...GOODUN!!! ... put it down & call it quits ...as has been the case too often with my OZ'rora!

well the TO was amazing .... quick wind assist spin-up ...with one-up ...just levitated away .... did a landing ...so sweet & easy with the strong headwind ...... I just headed over to the farm to play around & had a BLAST ... I feel i learned a HEAP just reviewing all those lessons from different CFI's ... figuring out different approaches to our landing strip ..several touch-go & when Jim came out in the MULE I did a full stop & then the first full TO after a bit of a break!
I remember Stan telling me how much fun windy days were in a gyro ... yep I'm hooked on playing in the wind!
Just TOO MUCH FUN! :whoop

Cool!! There are no trees or hills to get in the way! You could land anywhere!

My thoughts exactly Scott.... great place to begin solo flying :like It is harder learning with gaps in treelines making unstable or unfavourable winds.... and few places to land if you unexpectedly have to land.... that property is like a beginners dream :like :koolaid :gyro2 :yoda2 :Wolvie

Beginners, shooooo! I would love it now! All you would have to look out for is wires if you are flying low. (and fences if you fly real low) . Yes great place to learn a new machine for sure. Nice grass!!

about 350 ft to N end of strip is a powerline & the end of a tree row on the N side of the road!
To's to the south are the best (1/4 mile open field before a fenceline!) ... For when the wind is out of the N .... I've been trying to get a handle on the abort point ....if lift off is not achieved ...& the powerline cannot be safely cleared!

I've been practising the tight turn to come around before the obstacles & line-up over the end of the strip, or on straight-in making a vertical descent over the road/lines/trees .... and still leaving enough strip for touch & go & has challenged me .... just practice needed!

Yeah it's GREAT having 95 ac of flat open field to work with!

Chris and Jim,

That is a great way to scope out the lay of the land. Not only are you all living the dream now I have to say Chris......You fly like an ole' hat
and it is second nature. So smooth and deliberate and I could barely perceive your stick control movements.

Way thumbs up!!! :like :plike :dropbear

LOVIN IT!!!! :whoop

I will join you all soon enough!!! :gyro2

Thankx for the inspiring video...keep em coming!!!

:wol
