OK about a month ago Mama gyros Mercedes SLK230 Kompressor stopped on the side of the road, Crank sensor went out.

2 weeks ago my Sons Dodge Dakota fry's the crank sensor in North Carolina.

yesterday Mama gyro is driving the mercury mini van and it drops the crank sensor....

So in about a month 3 vehicles crapped out the crank sensors....
All 3 vehicles are 1999 model year
All 3 vehicles are in the area of 180,000 miles

Weird huh?

Why do you think those cars have computers? So that when the mileage gets to certain number it will crap out parts.
Did you ever notice most phones start crapping our about the time the contract is up?

Volkswagen wrote the into their computers that when emission control monitors are plugged in they go into "green" mode.
Coincidence? I don't think so!

Ray is correct.... a friend has a Subaru that he bought new, it was using alot of fuel.... he asked the dealer whats up.... the dealer asked how many Km's on it? He said 42,000. The dealer said, at 50,000 km, the computer will lean the fuel.... it is set with a bit extra fuel for the running in period.... so if the computer can change the fuel mixture at 50K Km's it can sure make things crap out at a specific date or amount of miles. Gotta keep the dealers in work.... and the spare parts department in business :killme :dizzy :laughing

It is funny really.... the old cars had excellent mechanicals.... but rusted badly. Now, cars have shit mechanicals... and perfectly rust free cars go to scrap :noidea :laughing :pop :yoda2 :Wolvie

It appears to me that things like this seem to happen to Elwood, in groups, about once a year. I think he is being tested......

Yes and VW are in deep shit , it will cost them billions .. and that will just be the FINES they will pay

It was a pretty clever idea .... let the cars run with plenty of power and extra emissions ... then when the EPA (for example) plug in their testers the computer makes the car run "clean" for the test. After the monitors are unplugged ... back to the way it was.

It has been going on my whole life, i am just too much of a cheap ass :Cheapass to buy anything that someone has not thrown out....It is all by my own making.....If I bought a new car i would be enjoying the 1st half of the cars life while everything still works...Instead i buy cars at the end of their life and try to resurrect them. I am just a sucker for mechanical orphans..

At least VW didn't kill anyone like GM did with the ignition keys.
Follow the money, The Gov does not want high MPG cars over here....
They are fining VW 40 times more than they fined GM....

i think i might be interested in a new VW diesel now!

It isn't just cars/vehicles either.... it is fridges, washing machines.... anything with a computer controlling it.... you tell the computer to shut down after a specified number of cycles or a time to count down to.... it will run perfectly until that day or amount of hours and wen it expires, hopefully you will buy another one :noidea :killbunny :fuckum :yoda2 :Wolvie
