I do my best work in the dark :eek :laughing :laughing and have always used a small led torch to see WTF I am doing.... a mate came over and was wearing one of those ching chong LED head lights, so I talked myself into it and ordered one off Ebay..... I am so impressed :eek it only arrived today (I got some super doper 6000mAmp batteries and a charger from another seller, they came a couple of days ago, the head light arrived today. :koolaid Anyway, my tosser brother ran up the butt of a car tonight, so guess who had to go and rescue him :eek :drama :killme Yes me :punch

He pushed the radiator back onto the exhaust manifold, crushing the fans and the bumper fell off one side, headlight R/H smashed, guard pushed back closing the door gap, hood bent up in the middle (1999 Toyota Camry) and cracked the radiator plastic top tank.... anyway, long story short... I took my new head light and man.... how great is it :koolaid

I got one that is 6000 loomins :laughing and it came with two 3200 mAh batteries.... but as I said, I bought an 8 pack and charger of 6000 mAh batteries.... I used this thing for a couple of hours and no sign of it getting dull what so ever... and where ever you look, it is like daylight :like :lick :koolaid

I honestly think it is the best gadget I have ever bought :noidea

I got the 6000 lumen one, it has one large and 2 small LED's big one center and small each side.... the light is amazing.... I can shine the light into the trees 200 yards away, it is like a phucking search light :eek

Cheap too.... $AU36 for the head set and two 3,200 mAh batteries a usb charger and a wall charger and $AU31 for eight 6,000 mAh batteries and charger. So, with our $ that means it should cost you guys less than $US25 and about $US25 for the mega batteries.... if you stuff around outside at night, go camping or have power outages etc, these are fantastic.... you can get lesser lumens and single lights way cheaper too.... I just wanted to mention it to you guys, the light from these is spectacular :like :koolaid :pop

Do yourself a giant favour and grab one or more, I am getting one for in the car too.... I felt like a bit of a dick wearing it for the first 5 minutes, but it is so dang handy. You don't have to buy it off this mob, but it shows the light in question.... look on your Ebay or my link.... or Amazon or something. Get a couple, they are excellent :lick The head lamp with no batteries is way cheaper.... and buy the 6000's separate. Look at your Ebay, so you get the right wall plug fitting...

Does anyone else use them (head lamps?) if so.... why didn't you tell me sooner :noidea :punch :fuckum :laughing :laughing :Wolvie

I have one of these.http://www.foursevens.com/products/HAL-HE
They are based here in Atlanta, and they give us a discount since all the mechanics here
probably have 1/2 of all the flashlights in the whole U.S.
I love mine, use it alot,
Only thing is I need to find some CR123 rechargeable batts.
I also have one of their 2AA lights regular flashlight, I have had it for a few years and use it every day.

Flashlights are a guy thing, you can never have too many.

I have the LED ones you get at the check out counter at Home Depot, run on 2AAA's, work great.
Can even turn on the red flasher if I want to look :ultragay

My wife has been using those for some years now when she catches owls for banding. On occasion, a headlamp gets "lost" and ends up in my toolbox. Handy, they are!

Elwood:
Don't be dis'n my Harbor Freight. Northern Tool, OK...Tractor Supply, certainly...but keep dis'n Harbor Freight and we'll be having words....just sayin'...

.

My sister got me started using them circa 1990 ... she used them for overnight mountain hiking .... so I bought a cheapie with the batteries right in the lamp ... gets heavy after a while and the headband kept slipping

Next one I bought had a lightweight lens with the battery pack on your belt .... it was the best ... and some models you can zoom or widen the beam if you want.

They also work good if your fixing stuff in a poorly lit shop or outside at night .... the light is always where you are looking ..... beats the hell out of hanging a trouble light under a car ... I ficking hate trouble lights ..

Yeah, trouble lights are .... well.... trouble :laughing :laughing

And right in the middle of doing something, they always fall and blow the bulb :badluck :killme :laughing :laughing

I used to think they were no good because wearing them makes you look stupid.... then I realised I look stupid anyway, so, what the hell.... :noidea :pop

I guess it is better to look stupid and be able to see what you are doing .... than look stupid anyway and keep tripping over things and looking even more stupid :noidea :laughing :laughing :pop :yoda2 :Wolvie

It is illegal UNLESS you have specific permits. The scope of permits and authorizations she has for bird monitoring, banding, handling and research makes the FAR's seem trivial and easy to understand.

My comment/question was actually a poor attempt at humour Jon :laughing :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

Ah! Therein lies the issue. Everyone knows I have no sense of humor whatsoever. Not sense at all, for that matter.

You and he should do a standup comedy routine.... that might be funny to watch then :noidea :laughing :laughing :wol2 :Wolvie

Edit: are you sure you haven't got a brain injury :noidea or no more than the rest of us here :noidea :laughing :laughing :chainsaw

Clearly it was too early in the morning when I typo'd that. The edited version stands on its own.

..and Carleton has an "e" in it. It isn't my fault, but that's the way it is.

As for a brain injury, there yet remains no specific proof I have or ever had a brain from the start.
