Due to the fact that I seen to always find the wrong people to deal with
this time I will try asking first.

Does anyone here have any experience or opinions about Autoflight and Neil Heinz
I am thinking about buying a PSRU from him.

Thanks

Neil is an awesome dude I got to sit and talk with him a couple of years ago at Bensen days, as far as support for the redrives, shipping times etc, i have never had dealings with him so I don't know.

I got to sit and talk with Neil and Dick Degraw at the same time, those guys have forgotten more than I will ever know about gyros.

I have heard nothing negative about them, a few people use them here and are happy enough. As long as you buy from Neil.... evidently the ching chongs have copied them but poor quality.... evidently Neil had one returned and it was a counterfeit, a chinese rip off :realcrazy :puke3 :badluck :wol2 :Wolvie

Here is his webpage.... the new Zealand $ is worse than ours, so your $ should make anything from NZ :Cheapass :laughing :laughing

They do Subaru and a universal model that you need an adaptor plate :like :koolaid :laughing

The only issue I have ever seen or heard of happening to one box.... there is 3 hardened steel pins sticking out of the flywheel to run the donut on.... one guy was grounded because one of the pins snapped off.... so, if you buy one, insist on a few spare pins.... just in case.... easier to get them at the start and have spare, than need one and cant fly for a week until one arrives :killme Other than seeing that one issue, I have only heard good things about them :like :yoda2 :Wolvie

Thanks guys !!!

It sounds like all the reviews here of Neil and Autoflight are positive.

After waiting almost 9 1/2 months on a gyro that was supposed to have a 3

month delivery time I am getting a but reluctant about ordering stuff from or
sending money over seas.
:chainsaw

Thanks again. As always you folks are great.

:Wolvie

If you are buying direct from Neil, you should be ok.... but do ask for 3 extra pins (just in case)

Ordering from someone other than neil (or his agent) could be risky in case you get a ching chong copy :what :killme

When are you supposed to be getting it? :noidea :pop :wol2 :Wolvie

As far as when I am getting the gyro I was told that the manufacturer just had to check on shipping costs and get back to me.

That was 10 days ago. I am sure that international shipping via air freight is a bit more complicated but normally
I can have 3 freight quotes for shipping anywhere in the USA or Canada in about a hour. I would guess that it should not be
much longer than another
:2weeks

The :OZ $ is 77 US cents, and the NZ $ is about the same below us, they are about $NZ1.25 to our $.... so anything you buy from NZ will be about US60c = $NZ 1.... so something $NZ 75K will be about $US 38K which is great for you :like :wol2 :Wolvie

Edit: If it costs you $NZ 10K to air freight it, that would be about $US 6k..... but surely sea freight would be better? What does Neil usually use? Air or sea? Whick model gyro are you getting? or just a redrive? :noidea :pop :wol2 :Wolvie

Maybe we had some poor communication. Probably my fault. I am waiting on the shipping costs on the gyro
from Cyprus not the PSRU.

I did just email Neil that I would like to buy a PSRU and adapter for the Yamaha 3 cylinder.

I will have to wait to see if he will sell me one. He has been waiting
for months for the test results on the proto type that he sold He seems reluctant
to sell a second on until he gets test results from the first one.
I offered to buy one under the condition that if it works GREAT and if it
does not it is my problem.

Yep with the exchange rate being what it is now is the time to buy.

KuuuL clear as mud now :like :laughing :laughing

That is a good thing that he wants to be sure it is perfect before you get it.... hopefully he will get back to you and get one on the way to you? I know they work well with the soobys, the Yamaha should be a smoother (less torque pulse action) than the sooby, so unless there is any nasty harmonics, I cant see why the box wouldn't go great behind a yammy? His website only says it can fit anything with an adapter plate? :noidea :yoda2 :Wolvie
