I am going to be flying my Turbinator in negative 15 degrees fahrenheit next Monday or Tuesday.
My lowest temps in it are 4 degrees and the highest is 104 degrees. My all time record is negative 8 in my SparrowHawk. I am going to bust that record next week with much lower temps. The forecast is negative 15 for both Monday and Tuesday.
I have a laser that shows exactly how many degrees of collective pitch I am applying. Typically it takes right at 10 degrees of collective to HIGE.....and around 11 degrees to HOGE. It took 11 degrees of collective to HIGE at 104 degrees.....and almost 12 degrees to HOGE.
I am wanting to see how much below 10 degrees of collective pitch it will take to HIGE at negative 15 degrees. Stay tuned.
I will post the DA that day...but it will make my 750 ASL way negative...probably lower than the Dead Sea.
You southern boys jealous of our thick northern air.....ha

Snow and freezing temps is not something I won't ever be jealous of! Suppose to be 25 here in the morning and I will hate every minute of it

That is beautiful but looks too cool to live in. Colder than my refrigerator that's not right. I'll try and shoot a picture tomorrow of our climate tomorrow.

The cold spell came this morning and it was right at negative 15 degrees Fahrenheit when I flew. The laser showed only 9 degrees of collective pitch needed to HIGE...instead of the usual 10 degrees of pitch. The density altitude was right at negative 5000 feet. I entered my 750 ASL...30.44 barometric pressure.....negative 15 degrees Fahrenheit.....and negative 25 degrees dew point. My gloves and hat were not needed once I shut the door. The cabin is like a green house and I even unzipped my jacket. Bare handed...and warm .....not kidding at all. But...this is very serious to have clothes ready should I have to put her down. I did not have any problem seeing the ground for depth perception as there wasn't a solid snow cover. Probably the coldest flight ever in a Helicycle....and I seriously bet none have flown under 10 degrees. Records are made to be broken...and they just changed Mondays forecast to negative 20 degrees or colder......guess what? stay tuned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtMKt1W ... rM_c1hmdoQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9hbqdD ... rM_c1hmdoQ
