Maybe you will be able to get blades to match your Warp drive carbon fiber prop! Carbon fiber blades are not new, Skysheels made fiberglass AND carbon fiber blades way backin the 1990's. I am sure some of the processes may be, and as carbon fiber becomes more mainstream perhaps the cost will come down some..

I would think that if they are stiffer in torsion they may fly smoother.

They still have to be able to flex, for the lead/lag.... if they were too rigid, they would prolly transfer more vibrations to the frame.... if you had really, really stiff rotors, you would definitely be needing a soft mounted rotor head I reckon

True.....But as far as torsional aerodynamic twisting as they rotate.

Gabor wrote: I have seen only a couple of pictures of the blades. First observations. Carbon blades can be balanced much better than metal blades because the weight distribution by placing the metal rods where they need to be instead of where the thickness allows will be a great advantage. The twist in the blade can be put in a fashion you could never twist a metal blade. NEVER!!! Double twisted blades will become standard! Mark my words. The lightness of the blades is not an actual desired side effect. Heavier blades rule the world. More inertia equals more better most bestest blades. Period. If you want light buy a freaking DW. Hard loading will be evidently more harmonic than metal blades due to root to tip thickness change that can be achieved only in composite. Metals won't mill uneven skin material. OK DID I MAKE YOU CHRIS AND FJ YOUR POINT FOR THE FICKERS WHO DON"T KNOW SHIT???? OK; You've made the point for composite blades, but not carbon fibre. Why would these be better say than Magni Blades

Magni blades are bonded halves with epoxy. These have carbon fibre wrapped around the leading edge. This is one very big difference. When hit they should not split in two halves.

Desmon you had beat me to it. Exactly why I am absolutely happy about the wrapping. It is simply Attachment: WolvieTagna2.gif compared to the bonded halves technology. I like what I see so far. Sure would love to see how much lift they generate

Gabor wrote: I think Jim Vanek paints his blades for the same reason. Keeping the blades white reflects the sun back and the heat doesn't mess with the bonding agent. I think that is a very good practice. I had a saying back when I sold Europa's, and everyone wanted orange, red, yellow or some other darker than white color. Paint it white or only fly it at night.

I would love to see someone build composite blades to fit R22 & R44 helicopters
Try to make them the same dimensions and weight as the originals so nothing in the rotor head is compromised , certify them , then the FAA could condemn the peeler ones
Huge market out there , 8000 Robinsons @ $30,000 a set = $240,000,000

Don't look now but Mike is trying to stir it up more. Close your eyes he used the " I may only just be stirring the pot, but" phrase.

I had been in contact with these guys before out of interest. It looks like CF is the future. What types of repeatable tests can / are done to compare the actual flight performance of different rotor blades? I am hoping we will hear soon what the cost of this really cool TAG machine, CF blades etc are going to be. Just as an FYI here was the reply from Gyro-Tech. Their price is still better than a standard set of Autogyro blades (Approx $4000 US) Magni blades I believe are more than double that. We offer:
1. The complete glass-composite rotor (two blades and hubbar) = 1700 euro euro 2. The complete carbon-glass-composite rotor (two blades and hubbar) = 2100 euro
We suggest a 8.20m rotor for your MTO SPORT. The weight of rotor is 33,5 kg.
Our rotor has better performance than 8.4 m averso rotor. In addition it means less air-resistance in flight. The rotor and it doesn't has limited work lifetime. We give 5 year warranty.
The shpping cost to US is about 1000 euro. If you are interested in order we will connect you with our dealer in North America.

I am deeply sorry that assholes drag you guys through the mud. I am also disgusted by the lack of outrage by others. By the way. Stan my hats off to you my brother!!!! Well said and you hit the soft tissue very expertly Chris good going my favorite OZ chick! Love the passion! Good for you. DOn't ever let anyone put you down and read something into your words that is not there. I hate when people do that. The simple fact that you have created this much backlash and attacks shows you got something they are afraid of! Competition is great and scary for some! I like choices. The more the merrier. Keep pushing back. You are in the right!!!!
