That sucks! Cold weather sucks. I do not miss that in the winter.
Why do you live there? Do you like it dark and COLD 9 months out of the year?
Are you a hermit? :realcrazy
Just heard from our Daughter in law a few days ago, She had a Dr's appointment but did not make it. the power steering pump on her jeep froze.
It was 50 below.

Next Monday it is supposed to be negative 5 degrees farenheit here in Illinois.

I have flown my Helicycle from 4 degrees to 104 degrees. Its time for me to break my 4 degree temp and go for some negative temps

Yesterday it was 12 degrees and my TOT at 115 mph was around 850 degrees.

The coldest I have ever flown was negative 8 degrees in my SparrowHawk, and I went up to 7700 feet ASL that day. With the typical 3.5 degree/1000 feet drop, it must have been colder than negative 30 up there. I felt my plexiglass and it was raw cold. I did a 7000 foot vertical descent at 0 mph, and it was fun to slowly rotate as I came down.

elwood ... It is not all that bad where I live .... I am in "Southern Manitoba" ... which is just an hour north of the North Dakota border ... we just has our shortest day and it can be crisp and clear and bright and sunny from 8:45am to 4:30 pm .... even though the thermometer reads -10f to -25f it is a "dry cold" and not too hard to stay warm .... beleive it or not the bright sun and solar heat melts all the snow on our highways and often on the cars as well ... wearing sunglasses is a must.

Gabor .... I broke into a sweat just looking at your temperatures !!!! .... 75f would be a hot summer day up here.

GyroGeorgia .... have you been analyzing me again ??? .... I feel exposed .... Have you been talking to my psychiatrist ?? ... the Ice Man Cometh .... hehe ... good one !!!!

Stan .... good to see you in the air again .... the air is so crisp and dense at -40 here sometimes the helicopters jump off the ground before the engines are even started !!!! .... and besides ... our squirrels stay in the trees where they belong .... they never come into our kitchens .... !!!! ... heck, we dont even need guns here .... you wouldnt like it at all !!! ... stay warm my freind.

redbaron ... that is about the one single advantage here ... we have a pretty decent Prime Minister who is slowly whittling away a lot of useless Liberal stuff ... it is a slow process but gives us hope .... also no crime on the streets at -30f .... hehe .... always a bright side !!!!!

Scary Gary where you are you get that cold wet heavy slippery miseable kinda snow .... I could never live there. It would be too hard :)

Chris ... enjoy your visit back home .... has your mum ever been to the USA ??

Captured that photo......it shows how I feel about O'l Man Winter and how I feel he must think of me! Despise every flake.....after the first snowfall.

I can't cut the cold so I can't ride my bike around and the cold forces me to spend large sums of money just to keep warm. Yep.....winter sucks!

But I still like you Arnie......

Yes indeed Arnie. When our boys were small we spent alternate Christmas 's in OZ & until middle school teachers & sports made it tricky to get away too long .... we could spend most of Dec & Jan away from the cold! In the alternate years my parents would come visit us here ... mostly in spring or summer months!!! HAAA ... wonder why??????

Several times we came up to Manitoba during their visits ... to visit the family i worked for in 1980 (Carberry area) & also Mum's very good friend from her days in the WRENS ( last years of WWII in UK) ..& family emigrated to the same area as my host-family in the mid-'80s ... so we had some really good times up there visiting family friends!
One memorable trip was taking the train across the plains to the Canadian Rockies ( that Mum had always wanted to visit) ... we had a fabulous holiday & revisited many places i'd explored on my vacation time in 1980.
I have a cousin in Edmonton area ( he was adopted as an infant) & just in the last couple of years was able to find his birth-mother's ( my Aunt) family! I'm still trying to figure out when i can fit in a visit to Canada to see everyone up there again! Summers get so busy & you KNOW what i think of the BBRRRRRR COLD!!!! :realcrazy

August 8 2014 the Winnipeg snow pile is still 60 feet high ... we are wondering if it will melt before next winter

Typically our summer months of April - Nov are hot and sunny 70F to 90F , crops growing to beat hell , potato farms vegetable farms grain farms , strawberry farms etc .... but even in these warm temps the huge snow pile remains

Here is a picture of it , today ..... looks like sand because we spread sand on the snow and ice to get traction , and it gets hauled away with the snow

Also a picture from December showing dump-trucks and bulldozers making the piles

MeThinks the lack of common sense in polecats is showing...

And the public is finally getting some common sense...

Now all we need is for the public to grow a set (even small ones)... and good things will follow... :)
