Thanks Ben. Kurt Fister trains near me so I called him a couple of months ago, in spite of my first impression that he was the typical "used car salesman" of the industry. Your comments confirmed my impression. Eric Dufour is also not too far from me, although he just moved his Florida shop to Melbourne which is almost 2 hours away, but I have heard good things about him from a PPC flyer that I believe trained with him. There is also an instructor listed on USPPA web site in my area, although I haven't called him yet. I would like to at least fly tandem with an instructor just for the experience.

Eric I have heard good things about as well, but never met.
right up the road a few hours from me is Ryan Shaw, hes like the world record holding holder for PPG stuff, I met him at the fly in but as of yet haven't needed to go up and see him....well see.

There is an argument on the web between Jeff Goin of footflyer and PSF magazine and Kurt Fister....Its very telling.

I hadn't seen the posts by Jeff Goin (I did already know who he is!!!), nothing surprising there. I formed an initial impression from various videos and called him anyway. My impression was narcissistic which has also been seen in the gyro community.

Wahoo!!! I'm back baby!
Got airborne today for the first time over Yuma in a LONG time:)
I didn't "nail the dismount" and face planted into a sand dune, but hell these things land so slow I just giggled!
No damage to me or the rig, so I'm ready to go up again!!!
Have to work out the smoothness thing, but interestingly enough, after you start to apply throttle to about 20% the wing "locks in" and it becomes rather easy to run with the rig, as the wing is supporting the weight.

Made a couple of passes for landing, but my ground buddy killed the comms (I could see him futzing with the buttons and I just knew he had forgotten the freq we were using!)

So I set up for the landing, killed my engine a little late but not bad. I glided down to land on top of the sand plateau, but descended faster than I thought I would and missed the plateau...I ended up at the base of the hill in soft sand giggling.

Kyle, wanted me to go up again, as we had time and the conditions were right, but I was exhausted from all the practice we had been doing so I canced the op for the day....there will always be another day!

I can't tell you guys how it feels to be airborne again in my own apparatus and not renting a flying school bus!

I want to fly again so bad !!!!!
