Larry, Bernice and I were hanging out at the hangar yesterday, I'd just finished the last few details on the 100 hr and cleaned the Tangerine baby, and this little toy flew in. She was loaded for bear, they were off to shoot up some shit on the nearby military practice area. What an awesome machine! Crew were great, I think I noticed some white stains around Larry's fly after we got a close up look and talked a bit with the guys. Pilot looked all of 19, but we calculated he was a bit older than that as he's been flying these for 7-8 years. Sound is awesome. Got some cool video, but probably better not to post on You Tube etc.

No annoying orange was all tucked away. Man once those blades started spinning, annoying orange would have been hovering. That little mini-gun apparently pops off about 3000 rounds per min. There was one on the other side as well. Kitted for in-flight refueling, the whole deal.

Yea it looked like a soar bird. The 160th special operations aviation regiment. Best and brightest pilots Army has nicknamed the Nightstalkers. Ive shot miniguns from a helo, it really takes the whole "skill" thing out of the equation!

I really need to hang out at that Airport more. some really cool stuff does fly in and out of there, that is for sure. sunday morning we had another airshow in front of the house, to biplanes where doing aerobatic and mock dog fighting, it was cool, they flew out of sight chasing each other and doing loops and rolls in the mock dog fight. one even had a smoke system on it. it did a few vertical rolls and hammer head with the smoke on.

I think those rotor-tips are major cool...
Wonder if we will ever design a composite rotorblade for gyro's, with special tips?

Wonder if we will ever design a composite rotorblade for gyro's, with special tips? I doubt it, the turned down tips would help stop the air flowing over the tips of the driven rotors.... I don't think it would be any advantage to an autorotating gyro rotor, in fact it would prolly interfere.... I think the next step in improving gyro rotors will be to make them from carbon fiber.... I think that is where the next improvement will come from, prolly shorter rotors with wider chord, carbon fiber, stiff as (like rigid, but still teetering).... just my thoughts

Those guys are busy this week, must be graduating a class or something. Same pilots different shoot em up crew today. Skydivers in the background. The light was quite dramatic today. Larry and I had a fun flight earlier. Really enjoying hanging out at KDED.

I am hopeing to take it out wekend after next for it's first run. I need to get me a life jacket. and there is a few things I want to do to it. I have a front seat that came with it, so I want to install it sometime soon.
