Arnie- This topic jogged my memory from years ago. We had a huge blizzard on my 13th birth day Jan 27th, 1967. Happened to be the very same day the 3 Apollo astronauts burned up on the launch pad in Florida.

Anyway, there were 10-15 foot tall snow drifts along the rail road track north of me. One day a pair of locomotives with a plow was clearing a path down the railroad tracks. Those locomotives would back up a quarter mile and ram the plow into the drifts as fast as they could go in that length. The snow would go up in the sky I swear at least 200 feet. Just a huge white out....then you would eventually see the locomotives backing up a quarter mile for another plunge. This went on for hours.
