I waved as she flew over !!!!!

Brandon is about 1 hour west of me .... most USA to Japan flights go north over Canada & Alaska , it is the shortest route on a "round" globe .

I used Google earth to draw a line from Detroit and it bisected Alaska pretty much in half. She should go over the Bering Strait.

The flight started in Columbia, Sc. to Atlanta, to Detroit then to Nagoya.

.

At one time (Cold War) the airlines had to make sure they stayed in Alaska airspace because right next door is Russia ,,,, and they were known to shoot down stray passenger planes

Hey MadMuz .... your post at 6:22 shows Rays daughters plane almost over the new airpark in Alberta

There's a flight or two I've taken I wouldn't have minded stopping for a brief break to stretch my short legs.

Just wind down the window a little and try to look innocent Arnie.... I am sure you would get away with a puff every now and then :lie :koolaid :pop :laughing

Cigarettes are terrible.... I used to go out with a bird who couldn't even watch a full movie at the cinema.... she had to go out for a smoke every 20 minutes or so :noidea :killme

I've gone over 14 years without one to date.

It took drugs but I went cold turkey. I was up to 3 packs a day.

Late Edit: I just remembered it was called Zyban. That drug let me smoke until I lost the desire to light up.

About 24 years give or take for me... quit in 1990. I remember when I had pass riding on PanAm... If the only vacant seat on a 747 was in the back... I would wait for the next flight. The smoke got thicker and thicker as it went to the back... it was difficult, even for a smoker, to breathe back there.

Back on subject: One day, I woke up and just pitched them... and never looked back.

Now for the 'rest of the story'...
Prayed to my God for months that I wanted to quit, but did not have the strength.
Believed God could take away the desire... and I believe one day He did.

Note I am not preaching... just sharing my experiences/beliefs.

10 years ago. The lowest point in my life. I could not believe how much chemical dependency I was under. Took me about 3 times to go at it.
You now when you see a smothering butt on the treet and it starts looking good to you.....you have probably hit the bottom :rofl
I was up to 3 packs a day by then.
My daughter made me quit.
She walked in with a lit cigarette in her mouth.
That little bugga.....she doesn't smoke of course but apparently I value her life more than mine so....... :killbunny

I am glad for ALL of us that quit... regardless of how it was accomplished.

That is just one nasty habit.... and it stinks!

Yeah it is a nasty habit. I remember saying things like "got to die from something" and "I love smoking" and such.
Meanwhile I was trying to mask my own weakness of kicking the habit.
I had a serious dependency on that crap.
I have never done any drugs in my life not even pot.
I don't know what it smells like or anything.
I had figured if cigarettes that makes you sick when you try them first can become so hard to quit imagine if it makes you feel good how hard that must be to stop?!
So I just stayed away from all the rest.
Glad I am smoke free. It was tough to quit. Really tough....

I have tried to quit many times and failed .... I am so bad I will see a butt lying on the street and pick it up and light it.

I tried to quit around 1987 so I went on a camping trip with a bunch of non-smoking friends . On the way there I threw out 1/2 a carton of cigarettes as I was driving down the highway , and I got rid of all my lighters and matches too.

Next day I was craving a cigarette so I went jogging around the park to get my mind off it. Of course I kept seeing butts on the ground but reminded myself I had no matches or lighters , otherwise I would have smoked them

That worked pretty good for an hour or so , then I decided to sit on a park bench beside the beach and relax a bit ... and guess what happened .....

A guy strolling along the beach had just lit a cigarette , a moment later his buddies waved at him to join them swimming .... he tossed his cigarette away and ran and dived into the water .... that friggin cig landed right in front of me in the sand , all lit and ready to be smoked , I couldn't resist.

Then I packed up my tent , jumped in my car and found the place along the highway where I threw my cigs out , two packages had been run over by cars , but two were OK ... I smoked half a pack by the time I got home.
