Considering all options on blades.
Would like to know about experiences with Phoenix blades. The good, bad and the ugly. May consider a good used set of 25 footers that have and adjustable pitch hub bar. here are the current prices from their web site. Mark I bought a set of 25 footer Sport Copter blades.
I will never look back! I love them. Of course you'll find different opinions on different blades. They are smooth as a butter. Minus zero stick shake. They come up fast and have lots of inertia. Paid 1700????? I think...... _________________  A walk in the woods helps me relax and release tension. The fact that I am dragging a body should be entirely irrelevant! A simple thank you would have been enough for the morning coffee without all that "how did you get in here" nonsense. |

I got a close look at a pair the other day. One of my club members got a set. Only thing I can say so far is IF they are out of balance, it is going to be tricky to fix. The endcaps are riveted on. Getting it right and not changing it by riveting it back together is going to be difficult. We all hope it is in spec to start with. The previous owner of the blades complained about stick shake.
I intend to fly them Saturday if they check out OK. I'll know more then. Just on first impression, I would probably buy a set of Dragon Wings before Phoenix rotors, if it was a price thing. Sport Copter blades are certainly the "Rolls Royce." No argument there, but they are a bit pricey. Phoenix is WAY WAY over priced> For that price I would buy a new set of McCutchens, They are really sweet.

They had 5 hours on them. Kevin Richey had them. The gyro was demolished with some other blades on. These blades stayed in the box!
I got a great deal on them  But I am eyeballing the new Mc Cuthen blades. I might sell these _________________ A walk in the woods helps me relax and release tension. The only bad thing i have heard about the new McCutchen blades is the price, the intro price was attractive...now not so much.

Well, I -nearly- flew a set of the extruded Phoenix blades this past Saturday. There were issues with the machine not directly related to the rotors that prevent me from saying anything kind about the blades. That said, so far, they have not impressed. However, that could be more directly related to gyroplane issues than the rotors themselves.
I can only say now that unless they suddenly show off some spectacular properties that have yet remained hidden, Phoenix extruded blades would not be my first choice in rotors. If phoenix were priced competitively with dragon wings, they would probably sell more and at least get their name out there.
the OLD rotorhawks were good blades, not near the performance of the dragon wings, but they flew smooth and did not flap. I don't know anything about the new ones. When I bought my last set of blades from ernie, they were $1250.00!!! _________________ It's never too late to be a bad example. I spent all my money on Bikes, Broads, and Booze, the rest I wasted. |
