has this crash been discussed on rwf? I'm sure the first question by chuck beaty would be where is the horizontal stabilizer and he would be right. looks like he couldn't keep up with the osscilations of a tail heavy gryo.

I don't have Quicktime either but I can view them after downloading.
I can download it then play it with windows media player.
Click on the file name and firefox will download it.

Then I got brave and clicked on the oops.mp4 thing circled in red below .... and VOILA !!! .... windows media player popped up ... click on it and the video played .... and it was high quality !!!!

Correct me if I am wrong... however... It appears something went wrong with the controls in that last video.

Why is the aircraft flying backwards, and why did it sink so fast without hovering before touchdown?

It was an airshow and they have just dropped a flag he was towing. So he was hovering back to the landing spot. Is does seem that the air was pulled from under ..... He did have a high sink rate and it was not arrested soon enough. Unfortunately the tail broke off and that's usually a bad thing......not that I would know! I am just sayin'.... anyways his only way out would have been to nose it over. He kept pulling power. Watch the damn blades coning more and more. Said way to die :badluck
Helis are not as forgiving and the Mi 8 is a pretty heavy piece. Gravity won.

I didn't have any trouble in Linux viewing in in Chrome or Firefox. But I do have all the codecs loaded.

Notice the cyclic on that gyro...VERY long. Can't be good. Still, it looked more like he was trying to erase a chalkboard than steer.

I blame the machine more than pilot error! It may have been pilot error to fly an aircraft built of error! my bee will fly happily down to 10mph standing on its tail with very little help from the pilot.
