OK let me know if I can help. The blades are quite heavy for one!!!
Sooooo if you want me to I will help. Stringing the blades can be done easily.
I doubt that that's your problem but just to eliminate the possibility you should do it.
I am still looking at your lower section.
Stick would shake more if it came from the disc.
Anyways. We will figure it out.
See you this weekend.

Thanks - yeah I have to work it out!!!
Carb balance - check
Prop balance - check I think
Rotor alignment - not checked
Some rudder issue?, Cable tension maybe?
One of the very knowledgeable guys in SA mentioned something about the tracking of the rotor head itself that is adjustable, but I think that is with the Magni, I don't see anything on the MTO head itself that can be adjusted

Magni is a different animal. I am not aware of MTO head adjustment. We can still check a few things from the cables to the push rods on the front all the way to the pulleys. There are a few places where slack can occur. We will find it!

I think you need to ask Bob about tracking blades ( shims in the rotorhead) to smooth stick-shakes... I watched him do it @ BD's & he's got this thread going for Mentone!

Yeah, I did send him a message, but no reply yet. My issue is a little strange. In normal flight (Gabor and Larry backseat will confirm this), I have very little stick shake, particularly front to back, but I have some perceptible side to side shake as much in the aircraft as in the stick. Not something of any concern in normal flight.
Where it first concerned me and was very noticeable - but NOT in the stick - was on full power steep climb out. Felt a real shuddering, and on one occasion I thought my rudder cables had snapped like Gabor, the pedals seemed so loose. It resolved when I pulled the power back a little. When I told Des about it at the time, he said he thought I was imagining it - as it was one of my early solo flights and maybe climbing out a little steeply Since then I can definitely duplicate it at full power and steep climb. However the confirmation came when Larry commented after our beach flight a few weeks ago that he could visibly detect a flutter or a shake in my tail even in normal flight. On the ground the comment was that the shake looked similar to what one would see if one shakes the from side to side right where the keel bend of the MTO is. So question is, is this a frame shake transmitted from rotor or motor, or is it something in the airflow over the tail?

Yes I am absolutely doubting the rotor blades. I have flown the machine and there was no 2/rev. The stick is steady and that would be your first clue of they were out of line. We will still string the blades but I am really leaning towards having one of the props being out. That would shake it when the resonance is just right. I have checked the cable tightness and the eyelet is set properly too. I don't feel the engine is rough so that is not the reason for the shake. More to come stay tuned! :wol2

See you at KDED later. If we don't sort it out - I will have an even better excuse to try one of Abid's props. :)

Good day today; thanks Gabor! The vibration is much better with increasing the pitch and balancing the prop. Flew North a couple of miles to Lee Municipal to stay out of the busy Deland traffic pattern, and did a bunch of T&G's on the 9/27 grass strip. Also after you leftThen back to KDED for a few more.
Had a nice visit at the hangar from Mike Smith from Macon, Georgia. He has ordered a Tangerine Scream MNTO like mine, and wanted to see mine while visiting Florida. He is a certified mechanic and hoping to become a CFI.
May have to do the beach again tomorrow. See you there.

You are more than welcome. I can't believe you had me flying that design flawed MTO like that! I am really upset with you now. I might forgive you the props being out of adjustment but flying away with my wallet.....I am not only banning you from my house since you already walked off with my wallet once but I am going to have to ban you from the hangar too......unacceptable simply!
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
I am glad we got the problem fixed. :Flag
See you tomorrow.

You guys have way to much fun at Deland.

looking forward to getting moved, told my A&P when ever he gets my Helicopter ready and brings it to Florida, to bring his Chadwick balancer.
that thing is great on Rotors and Props.

Fly safe guys, see ya soon.

Next weekend I will
